Best Practical Gifts - The GPS

Updated on December 14, 2012

People Like Practical Gifts and Electronics

Knowing where one is and where one is going has got to be one of the best practical gifts ever. Giving a GPS to someone shows that you really care about them and don't want them to get lost. You can even make a joke about helping them "find themselves" in the card.

Why a GPS?

There are still many people that don't have GPSes. Many may feel they don't need it enough to justify the expense. I was one of those people until my mother encouraged me to buy one prior to a road trip to Florida. I hate listening to my know-it-all mom but I decided to give it a try anyway. It made a WORLD of difference. And it is so convenient for local trips to new places.

This is one of those "gifts that keep on giving". Expect your loved one to mention to you throughout the year how useful your gift was and she/he will think of you often.

The Best GPS

I did some research into the best GPS and I ended up buying a Garmin Nuvi. I looked into it further just this week with Consumer Reports to see if anything has changed and this is still the most recommended GPS. There are many different models but here are the best buy GPSes per Consumer Reports, starting from the most economical (which I found totally sufficient for me).
