Celebrate Black Cat Appreciation Day with a Party

Roll out the Black Carpet! Celebrate Black Cat Appreciation Day in style!

It's a day for the giving of gifts to black cats as well as some special love and affection.

It's also a purrfect day for people to have a party in honour of all cats, not just the beautiful black ones. Here's how to have the BEST Black Cat Party

The Comely (black) Cat

For some reason that I'll never understand, black cats don't always get good media attention.

Why? Everyone knows that black cats are the smartest cats, the smoothest cats, the sweetest cats, the most majestic and noble, handsome and hunky.

Black cats are paramount, peerless and, let's face it, just plain purrfect.

Mind you, I could be a little biased.

Why can't people grow up?

There's another reason that black cats get bad press and (no pun intended) it's a very dark reason.

It's all connected to the childish superstitions that some people have carried for at least a couple of thousand years. It's hard for a cat to believe that there are some humans who are actually afraid of broken mirrors, dropping a fork at the table, walking under ladders or opening an umbrella inside the house.

The same people who think that black cats are bad luck. How crazy is that?

Costumes for your Black Cat Appreciation Day Party

The woman-who-feeds-me celebrates Black Cat Appreciation Day with a party.

She doesn't invite any more black cats, she doesn't invite any other cats at all! Her guests are all of the human variety.

So get your friends to show up in costume, the cattier the better.

I love this lens! We had a black cat once (he has passed over now) but he was one of the most loving cats we've ever had - and beautiful too.

Wonderful black cat pictures...they remind me of our black cat Roger who passed last year...My elderly Tortoiseshell has suggested that today be designated senior cat's day with the addition of some prawn treats.

Forgot to tell you, I once had a black cat -- her name was Spooky. I adored her.

This is an outstanding page. Besides being an interesting story of Black Cat Appreciation Day, your use of related products for the party are very well selected. Well done -- and the black cat pictures are all terrific.

I have three black cats and their birthday is coming up as well! I guess we will have a birthday/black cat appreciation day celebration! I'll get them some of their favorite canned food, some lactose free milk, and some awesome new cat toys.

Once my Mum and Dad had a black cat called Speedy. He was hit by cars twice and the Vet thought his name wasn't appropriate, but my Mum said, "He's still alive, isn't he?" - and he lived happily and well for many years, and even ONCE caught a mouse - in a mousetrap! I think the white parts of me make me a much better hunter than him ... but I do celebrate my black bits too, so Happy Black Cat Appreciation Day, Vladi.

Lady Ghost Whispurr is my owner and I'm her Daddy. Her Mommy is my wife, Grannysage. The Lady sent me to this lens. She appreciates black cats, especially since Daddy had selected a black kitty to adopt him, but allowed her to adopt him instead. Daddy and Mommy appreciate all kitties and cats, even that Special Needs cat, Wileykat, that shares The Lady's RV Home with her, Mommy and Daddy. I am Squid and FB liking Vladi's lens. Did you know, Vladi, that your name and my surname have the same origin?

A wonderful black kitty lived with me for 16 years. He was a shelter kitty no one wanted because he was black and also a senior, at least 10 years old. I brought him home to give him a good life until he passed. Ha! That was not for 16 more years! And he was the most loving, loyal cat ever. He died in September & I miss him so much!

I knew and loved a very special black kitty for nearly 20 years. But our current white (with a little brown) cat is wonder when his cat color appreciation day is. (I hate when he reads over my shoulder.)

It's impossible not to appreciate a black cat. For one thing, CAT. For another, the lack of distracting color shows up those lovely wise eyes; and the lack of markings means that one can appreciate a black cat as a striking silhouette, the very essence of cat posture and form. We can only regret that Black Cat Appreciation Day is but one day a year.
