Top 10 Gifts for Busy Moms

Updated on February 12, 2013

Busy Moms need help to make life easier

Any one of these ten would make a perfect gift for a busy mom! Take it from me, I'm a busy mom. I am a homeschooling mom. I a mom to many children. Seven in fact. My time is precious, I don't have enough of it. There are certain items, certain gadgets that I consider must haves for every mom and household. Here is my top 10 necessary items and gadgets to make my life easier! And if you are a busy mom like me, treat yourself to one of these and simplify your life!

Busy Moms need a dustbuster! - Face it, kids make a lot of messes

I need a quick pick-me-up. There is nothing like a clean surface to get me going. I have a lot of kids, therefore, I have a lot of messes. Where would I be without my dustbuster? Face it, I don't have time to haul out the big vacuum after every little spill. That is why I LOVE my dustbuster. This is the exact model I have and I use it daily, even hourly. It picks up life's little messes. And it won't matter if it gets wet in the process. I keep mine in the kitchen and I am seriously considering another one to keep upstairs in the bathroom. Get one! You won't be sorry.

Busy Moms need a timer! - Our time is limited

I don't have a lot of extra time. I homeschool my kids and I have a 1 year old and a 2 year old in the mix. I can't waste time. I need to know what time it is and how much time I have left. Sometimes I need a 15 minute sanity break from the household cares and kids. I have to be able to keep track of my time. So I need a good timer. Nothing fancy, it just has to tell the time (a clock feature) and tell me how much more time. I prefer a portable clock timer like this one so if I have something tucked away in the oven, I can be working upstairs and still hear the timer go off. I also give myself 15 minute blocks to clean or sort. Hate cleaning and sorting? You can do anything 15 minutes at a time. You know the time will end. Keep track of your time with a clock/timer!

Busy Moms need a great start to the day! - Spend a few minutes with the Lord

Busy Moms need to know we are not alone. The days get hectic and noisy quickly. I need to spend a few minutes alone with the Lord before all the madness begins. I love my One Year Bible. I get a little bit of the Old Testament, and little bit of the New Testament, a Psalm and a Proverb to read daily. God knows my needs and He loves me and my kids more than I could ever imagine. He knows my mother's heart. "He tends his flock like a shepherd: He gathers the lambs in his arms and carries them close to his heart; he gently leads those that have young." (Isaiah 40:11) Get a Bible and spend some time alone before the Lord daily! You won't be sorry!

Busy Moms need a good camera! - Capture the moments!

My kids are growing up before my eyes and I don't want to miss a minute. I need a camera so I can capture the precious memories and moments. With a digital camera, I can make time stand still for just a bit. Or I can record a quick video so I can share the baby's first steps with my facebook friends and relatives. I need a quick, cheap but reliable compact camera that I can throw in my purse or diaper bag and take with me everywhere. I love my Kodak easyshare camera. For formal pictures, I get portraits done, but for everyday, don't miss the moment pictures, get a handy little digital camera you can carry anywhere!

I love my little Kodak camera. In fact I take it everywhere. It's small enough to throw in my bag and sturdy enough to take some great pictures like the one in the poll below!

Busy Moms need a handy calendar book! - Keep track of your schedule!

I need a handy calendar that I can keep in my purse or diaper bag. I prefer a 2 year calendar so I can look back and look ahead all at once. This particular calendar runs starts in July and covers 25 months. It has enough space to jot down appointments and playdates, plus a space for notes at the edge of each month. It is perfect for keeping track of all that I had to do (dentist appointments, doctor visits, kids' sports and playdates). Get one for yourself and your mom!

Day Runner Academic Two Year Pocket Planner, 3 5/8-Inch x 6 1/6-Inch, Bubbles, 2013-2014 (767-021A-A2)
Day Runner Academic Two Year Pocket Planner, 3 5/8-Inch x 6 1/6-Inch, Bubbles, 2013-2014 (767-021A-A2)

This pocket size calendar keeps track of 2 years at a time. I love to plan ahead, although my plans sometimes get interrupted as a busy mom! This handy little calendar is the perfect size to throw in the diaper bag or my purse, so I can always keep track of what I am doing and where the kids need to be! And the price is right, too!

Busy Moms need a booklight! - Catch up on reading and use it as a flashlight in a pinch!

Wait before you laugh, hear me out. I felt the same way when my husband gave me a booklight for Christmas several years ago. A booklight? You have got to be kidding. But then I started using it. Many nights when I wanted to catch up on my reading in bed, I used the booklight. On long car trips when my husband was driving, I used the booklight. Late at night when the baby woke up to nurse, the booklight was perfect for finding my way to the crib, but maintaining the dark for the baby and others. Need a flashlight in a pinch? Grab the booklight. Hey, get 2! One for your purse and one for your bedside. (Besides, the kids will probably steal one of them from you for themselves!) You will find you use it often!

This one plugs into the USB so it doubles as a computer light, or you can use it as a simple booklight. Ingenious!

Busy Moms need a great 9x13 pan - Make dinner and dessert!

One thing I do daily is make dinner for my family. I make many one-dish dinners and I do my best to make homemade dinners from scratch to save money. A 9x13 pan is so versatile. I bake chicken, brownies, cakes, lasagnas, shepherd's pie and everything else in mine. I even have baked oatmeal for dinner some nights. I could not do without my 9x13 stoneware pan. I prefer stoneware because I think it bakes so evenly. It is forgiving if I don't get dinner out of the oven exactly when the timer rings. (Hey, I'm busy, right?). I love potluck dinners and use my 9x13 pan then too. Get one if you don't have one.

Stoneware bakes so evenly and is easy to clean. This one is pretty to boot!

Busy Moms need coffee! - Take a quick coffee break with a Keurig Coffee Maker

The smell of coffee can perk up my morning. I enjoy coffee. I drink both decaf and caffeinated coffee. I like to take a minute in the morning to sit and take a little coffee break while the kids are doing schoolwork or eating breakfast. Since I am the only coffee drinker at home, I like to make one cup at a time. Enter my Keurig!

The Keurig Coffee Maker is so easy to use. You can have a hot cup of coffee in a minute or two. And there is no waste, since you brew a cup at a time. With the Keurig, the coffee is fresh and hot and ready when you are!

Busy Moms need a laptop - Stay connected!

I never thought I needed a laptop until I got a laptop. Wow, portable connection and information at my fingertips. My laptop makes planning, homeschooling, looking up recipes, and everything else easier. I can use it to watch movies in my quiet bedroom during naptime. I can create lenses on the go anywhere I have wifi! I can check my facebook status and my teen's status too. How did I ever do it all without my laptop? Get one, you will love it!

Busy Moms need a quick themometer! - Make sure your kids are okay!

Thermometers have come a long way since my first was born 14 years ago. No more waiting forever for the temperature to register. No more sticking the thermometer under a squirmy, fussy kid's tongue. I just recently got this temple thermometer and I am impressed. It's easy to use for the baby, the teenager, and everyone else in between. It's fast and accurate. I can even take a temperature of a sleeping kid with this one. How did I do without it?

The Most Important Thing - Don't lose sight of this in all the busyness

I am busy because I am a mom. However, I must remember never to be too busy for these precious kids who call me Mom!

Very helpful lens. My daughter is a stay-at-home busy mom, too. She is having her 8th child and amazes me with her abilities to home-school, sew, cook, clean and everything else. :)

Congrats on your Mission as a Mom and realizing the priorities. I salute your efforts and nice to know there are more of us out there. I don't homeschool my children but make myself very visible in the schools.

I am a grandparent raising a grandchild, just beginning homeschooling and I am feeling pushed. I can't even imagine dealing with more than one child. The planner is important and someday, I would love to have a laptop. Great list of all the things needed to get through the day.

Excellent choices! I'm going to put one of those stoneware dishes on my wish list. I have gone through several cheap aluminum ones over the years.
