A World Full of Beauty
Between their beautiful blooming stems and their amazing scents, orchids are true show stoppers. I chose to showcase purple colored blossoms for a very simple reason; It's my favorite color and these are true beauties.
I remember being a young girl and receiving a beautiful arrangement (in my favorite color!). I was in the hospital and feeling very blue about being trapped indoors. My older brother came to visit and brought me the prettiest thing I'd seen in a while.
The stunning buds not only brightened my day and my room. They changed my entire attitude and encouraged me to get well faster, simply be being there. It amazes me how something so small has the ability to make a difference.
Dendrobium Orchid Care
Unlike many other orchids, dendrobiums can easily tolerate the rays of the morning sun. By afternoon, they prefer to be shaded. The temperature during the day ranges between 70-85° F. Upon nightfall, 65-75° F is preferable. However, the plant does best with an even temp throughout the day and night. Air that is too chilly can cause blossoming buds to drop.
You should water your new plant about once a week. In between watering, allow it to dry out a bit. The easiest way to know if it's time to water is to check the soil with your finger. If you feel moisture, it's not ready to be watered. Do not allow the plant to stand in water.
While your orchid is blooming, it is not necessary to fertilize it. During summer months add one quarter with every other watering and completely stop during fall.
Do You Love Orchids?
If you prefer your plant to live a very long life, try one of these. This is the kind of orchid you don't need to water and it even lights up!
You can even use one of these to replace a nightlight in any room of your house.
Comes complete with 3 branches and an adapter.
How do I say that?
Dendrobium is pronounced as den-DROH-bee-um.

I love this floral arrangement. Not only does it include orchids, it also has carnations, Sweet William, hypericum, emerald palm leaf, equisetum, galax leaves and sheet moss. Whew, that is a lot!
The combination of these make for a beautiful gift anyone would love to have.
Are an Example of Natures Beauty
It's easy to see why orchids of any genus is a favorite among many. Their elegance gives a room a splash of beauty and color for all to see. They are an exceptional example of natures beauty.
While I love all colors, my favorite has always been purple. Give me a gift of these purple beauties and I am one happy girl!
Dendrobiums are commonly used as cut flowers because of their sturdy stems and beautiful colors. Cut flowers is the term used to described blooms that have been cut from a plant. They are usually used for decorative purposes.
If you are still wondering how to say... dendrobium, it is pronounced as den-DROH-bee-um.
