The Christmas cake log filling is made of jelly and butter cream rolled into a layer cake. The Swiss Colony Forest Friends Swirl Cake looks like a log in the forest when decorated. The chocolate covered log is combed to make a more realistic log appearance.The ends are covered in a raccoon molded out of chocolate. The raccoon face is hand painted as well as the holly leaf.

French Name For Christmas Log Cake

A traditional dessert served near Christmas in France, Canada and several other former French colonies is the Buche de Noel cake (Noel refers to the birth of Christ). The yule log cake or Buche de Noel cake is presented and garnished to resemble a log in the ancient fire-festival the winter solstice. These cakes are embellished with powdered sugar to look like snow, tree branches, fresh berries, and mushrooms made of meringue.
