4 Ways to Celebrate Christmas Away from Home

Updated on April 24, 2016

Ways on How to Spend Christmas Away from Home or Loved Ones

Christmas is one of the most celebrated Holidays of the year. Here you will run through ways on how to spend Christmas alone. I am not specifically telling about being alone but when you are away from your family and loved ones. It only makes sense that we would feel alone. When all the world would be celebrating with their family and friends, we are there sulking because we are far, far away from them. Christmas is a joyous occasion and we love to spend that with our families. It is purely to do so.

Get the Know-how on how to spend it wisely. But if you are one of those who have to spend the this day alone, chances are you will really get depressed, read my lens about Ways to slowly cope with stress you might as well need these tips on how to spend Christmas wisely and merrily even though spending it all alone.

How do you celebrate Christmas?

This is the question that can easily be answered by anyone. Most of us would really love and would even spend much and travel that far just to be with our family on the Christmas day. We book early early tickets just to get by with all the hassle. We save ahead so we can buy gifts for our loved ones on that special day.

But what happens when under circumstances, you really cannot be with them on Christmas, this is really tragic and very sad to hear. Christmas would never be complete if it is not spent together with the family and loved ones. If you are one of those who work abroad for you family's needs, you really can relate to this and this is not a great feeling either especially on Christmas.

So, what are going to do when that happens? I got some few suggestions, but surely being with them is still the most wonderful feeling of all.

1. Ask for closest friend to spend your Christmas with her/his family.

Your closest friend would never want to resist nor say no to that, that way, its like spending still your Christmas with the family because your will be very welcome in there.

You can still feel the love and air of Christmas even though your true family is far away because you cannot be there with them.

Friends are like family but if your friend is alone, they would love to spend it with you too. However, if your friend would go home also to spend their Christmas with their family, then they cannot do that, so might as well go with their family and spend it there.

2. Call them on that special day

Call them, right.

Skype, or anything you have just so you could socialize. With our high technology today, anything can be connected even with the farthest of your loved ones.

I usually connect with Aunts and Uncles through emails and chatting with camera. It will still feel like Christmas. No matter the cost or way better if its free, call them and spend the night away chatting with them.

This a special occasion and a simple call would mean a lot. You will feel a lot better too.

3. Pack and Send Gifts ahead.

For most of the OFW workers, they do this. They pack gift ahead mostly in big boxes and send it to their loved ones, just so on Christmas day, they would feel that the one sending that package is right there present on Christmas day.

It's a great feeling also if you have given something and knowing they will receive it on Christmas day, after all Christmas is all about giving right, and they would eventually call you on Christmas day. Now, isn't that special. Then you will not be alone any more.

4. Go out to the Streets or Gatherings

It is most common among those who are away from their family on Christmas to spend the night with close friends out on the street or on gatherings held in public.

Commonly, these are free gathering with drinking and concerts to give fun especially for those who are alone on Christmas, though it is not for those who are alone on Christmas only but for all who want to spend Christmas night having fun and celebrating the Birth of Jesus Christ.
