Decorate a Golf Cart for Christmas

Updated on December 12, 2015

Golf Cart Fun with Christmas Decorations and Christmas Parades

Will Santa show up in a golf cart this Christmas? Golf carts aren't just for golfing anymore. In many communities, the golf cart serves as a second car and people zip around in them just for fun. Some communities with lots of golf carts hold a Christmas parade. Even if you don't have a parade, you can still decorate your golf cart. You'll enjoy the surprise on people's faces when they see your Christmas themed golf cart coming.

Actually we're a two-golf cart family, since we keep one for running around our retirement community and keep the other one loaded up ready for the golf course.

I've even seen the golf cart serve as part of the Christmas yard decorations with the addition of lighted reindeer. Just put Santa and his pack of toy into the golf cart and make your yard stand out from all the rest on the street.

This parade in a retirement community in Florida is fun

Solivita Christmas Golf Cart Parade - south of Kissimmee, Florida

This is an evening parade, so it has lighted decorations on the carts. I really liked one cart that was decorated like an igloo. There were some other great ideas in the golf cart parade too. Solivita holds this parade annually, so I've added just one sample YouTube video for you. There are more, if you care to go to the site to watch them.

Get some ideas for decorating your own cart.

Add Some Red Underbody Glow Lights to the Christmas Golf Cart - The lights come in green, blue and other colors too

Choose a color, almost any color, and glow, glow, glow. The green would look quite festive on a red cart.

These are starting to catch on in our community. If you haven't seen them yet, be the first. Everyone will want them after they see your cart with that awesome glow under the body.

The underglow lights are so unexpected. And isn't that what you want?

These look great for a golf cart parade or for just driving around your community in the evening. The first time I saw these on a cart, I had to look them up. They look super.

LED Battery Rope Lights to Decorate a Christmas Golf Cart

Just make sure you use fresh batteries before you head out. You could wrap these around the upright posts in a golf cart.

How to Add Lights on a Golf Cart for the Holidays

I asked the owner of this cart about how they powered the lights. She showed me the small generator/battery pack they had placed under the back seat. It's hidden by the giant snowflake. Some have a power point added linking to the cart's batteries.

Use Lots of Poinsettias to Decorate a Christmas Golf Cart Like This

When attaching garlands to the top of the golf cart, you could run cords or a netting across then tie the garlands to that.

Test it out by driving up and down your street to see if anything falls off, then you need to secure it more.

This cart had poinsettias front and back plus all across the top.

Lights and flowers, the best of both worlds. You wouldn't want to let these get rained on, but would be OK for short term outdoor use (like on your golf cart).

Fake Snow on the Roof of the Cart

Even if you drive slowly, the wind will try to rip off your decorations. Tie everything down securely and give it a test drive to see what flies off.

Use Long Cable Ties to Attach Decorations to the Golf Cart Frame

Keep these in your tool box. You'll find tons of uses for them.

They are great for attaching decorations to sections of your golf cart.

Don't Forget Your Costume

This is before the parade started. Notice the nice variety of costumes the participants are wearing. There's always Santa and Mrs. Santa outfits, but don't forget the elves, gingerbread man, nutcracker or even a walking Christmas tree.

Light up the Golf Cart with a Portable Generator - so you can decorate it with strings of lights

2015 Christmas Golf Cart Parade at Solivita

I went over early to get photos of the decorated golf carts. It's too hard to get decent shots during the parade as they are moving and it's dark at that time. I liked this cart with all the giant presents on the back.

Can you believe we've lived in Solivita since its inception, and have never seen the Parade of Golf Carts? We're usually traveling, and unfortunately, this year is no exception. I had no idea the fun we were missing. Your article was informative... and festive! Pinned to my 'Fabulous Finds in Florida' board!
