A Christmas Wreath Appetizer
It's always a good idea to have some nibbles before your main course is ready - I don't believe there is any possibility "you'll ruin your dinner" at Christmas! ... and serving appetizers is a great way to keep your (older) kids out of trouble ;) ... of course, even the smaller ones can help out if you can give them something easy to manage like cookies or chocolates in a tin - your guests will gladly uncover it each time to accommodate them.
Browse through these fantastic Christmas Appetizer Recipes for ideas. I think it's just fine to have 4 to 6 appetizers for small house parties with fewer than 20 guests, apart from the fruit platter, here are my top 5 favorites for Christmas:
Sausage Rolls (a wide selection so you can pick your own favorite recipe)
Old Fashioned Christmas Ham
Yummy, yummy Ham and Turkey :)
& maybe a leg of pork...
The Christmas feast for those of us who eat meat is best left in the hands of the older and more experienced members of the family - that being said, whenever you bake ham or turkey, the feeling of getting it done just right makes all the difference in how much the cook him or herself enjoys the food.
...And while you're at it, why don't you check out these other delicious Christmas Roasts!
Side Dishes & Salads
At our table, family favorites such as macaroni pie and rice and pigeon peas OR rice with stewed pigeon peas will definitely be on the menu. I love Caesar Salad and here's a mouthwatering Festive Salad that you can try as well.
