Christmas R2-D2 Lawn Decorations

Updated on December 8, 2015

R2-D2 (Artoo-Detoo) is my favorite robot and has been for years. It's beginning to look a lot like Christmas on my block and I've decided this droid is going to be on my front lawn for the holidays. How about yours? If you love Star Wars and R2-D2, this droid is a great little outdoor lawn ornament to light the way this holiday season. Kurt Adler brings us this 50 light outdoor decoration R2 wearing a red Christmas hat that will be the talk of the neighborhood this December. Yep, that's a picture of him right there. He's white, blue and silver and for Christmas he's put on his little Santa hat.

George Lucas introduced us to this little droid in 1977 in Star Wars Episode IV: A New Hope. Princess Leia Organa, a member of the rebel alliance, was transporting information stolen from the Imperial forces. When Leia realized her ship was going to be captured by the evil Darth Vader she hid the plans in an R2-D2 unit and sent it on a mission to seek out Obi-Wan Kenobi. Obi-Wan was once a Jedi Knight and comes out of retirement to help Princess Leia and the rest of the rebels fight against the evil and tyranny of the Imperial force.

R2-D2 and his droid friend 3-CPO help the resistance fighters and has become a household name. Just about everyone knows who these two cute characters are along with the other stars of the Lucas movies like Princess Leia, Han Solo, Luke Skywalker, Chewbacca, Darth Vader, and the list goes on and on.

R2-D2 Facts:

Artoo was an R2 series astromech droid - he worked as a mechanic on starships

He communicates with noises. His use of clicks and beeps is called binary.

R2-D2 once served on the starship of Queen Padme Amidala. Amidala later became the wife of Anakin Skywalker and the mother of Princess Leia Organa and Luke Skywalker.

Artoo-Detoo has a three legs. He rolls around on at least two of them, sometimes three. You can see the three legs in the picture of the Kurt Adler Christmas decoration

Artoo is full of surprises. He has many tools that include a buzz saw, a periscope, a life form scanner, an air cannon ... the list goes on and on. Find out more about this handy dandy droid Here.

Did you know R2-D2 was named the best robot and the most popular movie robot?

R2-D2 has been seen in many other TV shows including The Simpsons, Futurama, Robot Chicken, and Family Guy.
