Festive Serving Dishes for the Holidays

Updated on November 13, 2013

Christmas is the time for family, friends and celebrations!

I really enjoy entertaining and the holiday season is always my favorite time of the year to entertain.  I start decorating the day after Thanksgiving and always look forward to getting out my Christmas dishes and serving pieces.

We usually have a big Christmas party at our house each year for all of our friends and on Christmas day I serve brunch in the morning for my husbands side of the family and finger foods in the afternoon and evening for my side of the family. Our children and grandchildren all arrive from out of town so we have a house full of people. It is a very fun and festive time of the year.

In this lens I will share some of my favorite dishes and serving pieces and provide links to my lenses for my brunch menu and some easy appetizers.

Have a Wonderful Christmas Season!

Christmas Season Dinnerware - classic winterberry pattern

These are the dishes that I use each year from the day after Thanksgiving till about the 1st of February. I love this design because it has a winter design that really works well throughout the season. It has a touch of red berries and holly that can add to the Christmas mood but also is subdued enough to work all winter long.

Christmas Cookie Platter - serve special Christmas cookies

I love colorful platters to serve my Christmas cookies. I start baking my cookies in early November and store them in the freezer. Whenever guests are arriving I take out an assortment of home baked cookies and serve them on a Christmas platter.

I love this design with the green edges and the colorful tree.

Santa Snack Bowl - great bowl for holiday goodies

I can see this bowl full of an assortment of nuts with perhaps a few red and green candies. A wonderful bowl to serve all of your holiday goodies.

Christmas Tree Design Dinnerware

I've seen this design in the stores and always thought it was a very nice Christmas design. I love the green trees and the classic look.

Christmas Ornament Candy Dish - a dish for sweets

This dish would be great filled with homemade fudge. I love crystal dishes they go with everything and add a touch of class.

Cheerful Christmas Mugs - great for hot cider or chocolate

When your guests arrive on a cold winters day a nice hot cup of cider or chocolate would be welcome. These great Christmas mugs will add to the festive atmosphere as you serve your hot drinks.

Beautiful Lenox Christmas Candy Dish - classic elegance

Lenox makes beautiful dishes and this candy dish is no exception. Beautiful in it's simplicity.

Winterberry Chip and Dip - party fare for the holidays

I have a chip and dip set like this and it always comes in handy during the holidays. I often use it to serve spinach dip and vegetables.

Salad Plates or Dessert Plates - winter holiday dishes

These colorful red and white plates are listed for salads, but I think they would make wonderful dessert plates.

Snowman Relish Dish

The perfect dish for relishes. I can also see it used for different nuts and candies!

I have quite a large assortment of holiday serving dishes and enjoy pulling them out every year. We used to have a big Christmas Party every year but haven't been able to do it lately.

Just love to have holiday serving dishes for every holiday. It just makes entertaining so much more fun, but also using them for family meals makes them seem more festive, too.

These are some gorgeous holiday serving dishes! I always host something over the holidays and find I really enjoy the appetizer menu since it gives me more time to visit than preparing for a sit down meal.

Stopping back by to wish you a wonderful holiday season. This year for Thanksgiving I'm once again entertaining -- having the 'family' at my place! Have to check my dishes and see what I need before then. Some festive serving dishes would look so pretty on my table.

Lovely holiday serving dishes. Certainly puts you in a festive mood. Love the penguin dishes. Isn't it amazing how popular penguin designs have become? I used to entertain a lot over the holidays, but not so much now. Quieter time of life, with the 'kids' all grown.

Have pieces of the Winterberry pattern that I mix with my all white dishes. They really add a festive touch to our Christmas table.

Even when we are not entertaining we use holiday and winter themed dishes. We decorate the entire house, why not have special dishes. You holiday dish selection is great.

Your holiday dishes are very pretty. Yes, entertaining over Christmas is the best... You have a beautifully decorated tree and home and you can bring out all the candies, cookies you've spent weeks making.

Looking good! All the dishes look festive, but that poinsettia really sets the scene in its glorious holiday color.
