Create a Free Video Letter to Santa Claus

Updated on December 5, 2013

Simple Video Letter to Santa Claus is Great for Young Kids

Santa has gone high-tech. These days, you don't need to pull out a pen and piece of paper to send St. Nick a message. Now your kids can send a colorful video letter to Santa Claus in just a few minutes and have fun creating a letter that can include their photo or video, as well as information Santa will need to know for his Christmas Eve trip (like what toys your child is really hoping to find under the tree!). Here's how to create your own electronic letter to Santa for free.

My daughter is in kindergarten this year and although she's learning to write, stringing together a lot of sentences and trying to sound out the spelling for toys like Lalaloopsy (which even I have to look up on Amazon!) is tough for her. So this year we sat down together and I helped her create a video letter to Santa Claus using a Smilebox design.

Smilebox, for those who may not be familiar with it, is a wonderful site that allows you to create personalized electronic greeting cards, slideshows, invitations, newsletters, recipe cards and much more. You can include your own photos, text or music, and it's all free. Yes, free. They do include ads in your electronic creations, but you can easily opt out of those by paying a small monthly or annual fee, and then you can make as many creations as you like without any ads. It's a lot of fun.

And now they've made it even more fun by adding a letter to Santa design. This video letter to Santa Claus can be personalized with a photo or video of your child, as well as information such as what your child wants for Christmas and where they live. It only takes a few minutes to create, and parents can do it with their young kids. My daughter loved the colorful design and seeing her photo in the message to Santa. Santa even responded! Just send your creation to the Smilebox email address you'll find on the landing page, and Santa will send a message back to your child. What fun!

To give you an idea of what your completed message will look like, here's my daughter's electronic letter to Santa Claus. You can include a video clip or simply a still photo of your child in the magic letter box.

A Video Letter to Santa Claus is a Great Keepsake

Now that your child has sent a video letter to Santa Claus, you need to make sure St. Nick responds. He's a very busy man during the holidays, but he's never too busy to write a letter or send a video message to the kids on Santa's Nice List. But he does sometimes need a little help from parents.

One easy way to get Santa to respond is to send your email to the Smilebox address you'll find on their site. You'll get back an electronic message from Santa himself. You might also want to have Santa send a printed letter. If you'd like to help Santa Claus write a letter to your child, check out Free Letter From Santa Claus.net or Printable Santa Letters.com to create personalized Santa letters that you can print at home in minutes. Choose your background design and the text for your letter, and then fill in the forms to personalize your letter. You'll receive an email with a link to download and print your letter at home in minutes.

For even more fun, send your child a North Pole Santa video from Portable North Pole. Your kids will be amazed when Santa mentions them by name, knows where they live and finds them on his Nice List. The videos are free to create and share online, or you can pay a fee to download and save them forever.
