How To Make Cute DIY Polymer Clay Pumpkin Earrings
Fun & Easy Halloween Polymer Clay Tutorial For Making Cute Pumpkin Earrings
Learn how to make a pair of cute pumpkin earrings from polymer sculpting clay to wear for Halloween or to give as gifts. I have included an easy to follow, step-by-step tutorial with lots of photos demonstrating how you can make these cute DIY pumpkin earrings yourself.
They are very simple to make, even the most novice crafter who has never made jewelry or worked with clay before, can make these. This is a great Halloween craft to do with your tween and teenage children or even as a school classroom project for older kids.
You will need two fishhook earwires with a ball and coil attached. You can buy these online from Amazon or in any craft store.
I have a pair of these and I love them. They have round needle nose pliers and a flat edge, a wire cutter and a jump ring closer.
Sharp blades are a must when working with polymer clay. I like to use utility knife blades.
Condition The Polymer Clay By Hand - Or Use A Clay Conditioner Or Pasta Machine
Before you begin, you will need to condition the polymer clay to remove any air bubbles and to soften it up and make it more pliable. I condition my clay by hand using a plastic rolling pin. If you make lots of polymer clay projects, consider investing in a clay conditioner or pasta machine. It is very important that you do not skip this step! If the clay is not conditioned, the finished project will crack.
Make two dime-sized balls from the orange clay. - Gently flatten the tops of the balls with your finger.
Using a sharp blade, make 5 vertical slices around the sides of the flattened balls.
Using the back of a small paint brush, make a small hole halfway down the center of the balls.
Roll out two thin snakes of green polymer clay narrow enough to fit into the holes.
Place the rolled stem into the hole and gently press to seal the edges.
Twirl the strings to make curly stems and pinch off the excess.
Cut the eyepins down in size to fit the pumpkin charms with wire cutters.
Don't Throw Away The Metal Clippings
Make your own eyepins from the excess pieces of metal that are snipped off and leftover using a pair of round needle nose pliers.
Insert the eye pins into the tops of the pumkins.
Bake Your Finished Pumpkin Earrings In A Toaster Or Conventional Oven
Follow the baking directions on the package of polymer clay you are using. Each brand of clay has different baking times and temperatures ranging from 215°F to 325°F.
When the pumpkins are cool, spray them with a coat of acrylic sealer to finish them off.
This a versatile acrylic spray that works great on polymer clay crafts. It makes them shiny and protects them from normal wear and tear.
Attach the fishhook earwires to the pumpkins and they are now ready to wear.
Give these cute polymer clay pumpkin earrings as gifts or wear them out during Halloween celebrations!
Bling Up The Earrings - Brush the earrings(not the stem) lightly with mod podge and dip into orange glitter.
