Give DIY Christmas Gifts and All Occasion Gifts This Year

Show how much you care and demonstrate your creativity by giving DIY Christmas gifts. It is possible to create a thoughtful gift to match any recipient. Sometimes this can be the hardest part so I've rounded up several of my favorite do it yourself gifts for Christmas and all occasion gifts on this page.

Create DIY gifts like these simple pots which are featured further down the page. If that isn't quite what you had in mind, there are other gift ideas here. Be sure to check back weekly as I add more projects. So let's get started on some DIY Christmas gifts and All Occasion gifts, shall we? :)

DIY Christmas Gifts - a Rain Chain for the Gardener

A DIY Christmas gift like this rain chain would be a thoughtful gift to give to anyone interested in conserving natural resources. Gift it for Christmas or use as an all occasion gift. DIY Maven at Curbly made this rain chain for less than 30 dollars and in record time too. See how she did it. Rain chain......so much better than an ugly downspout, don't you think? :)

DIY Gifts - Recipe Dinner Napkin - Easy and Quick DIY Gift

DIY Gifts - Recipe Dinner Napkin
DIY Gifts - Recipe Dinner Napkin | Source

I made this DIY gift for my grown kids. This simple recipe is a favorite of the family but for some reason it's easy to confuse the ratio of the ingredients needed. This DIY recipe tea towel will solve the problem!

Begin with a white dinner napkin. Courier is the font used to type out this recipe on a Microsoft word program. Then flip the wording so it prints backwards using the flip horizontal button on a photo editing program. (If your editor doesn't have a mirror image button.) Next, print the recipe on plain paper making sure the size is correct. Scan this paper.

Lastly, use AVERY iron-on transfer sheets for LIGHT fabric. Follow the directions on the back of the transfer package. To finish the DIY recipe tea towel, I sewed a tab of black twill at the top of the napkin. Isn't this cool? :)

DIY Gifts for Christmas or Any Occasion - for anyone who sews

Organized and now tidy, sewing spools are framed in this clever and colorful DIY gift suitable for all occasions. Pick up a miter saw if you don't have one, gather some wood trim, wood glue, paint and nails. DIY Christmas gifts like this would be appreciated by anyone who sews. See how grey luster girl made this diy project.

Alissa at 33 Shades of Green used some very basic materials and information found on MarthaStewart.com to make these cool hypertufa pots. DIY Christmas gifts like these hypertufa pots planted with succulents would be a very welcome present in most any home. Tie a classic bow around the pot before gifting.

DIY Christmas Gifts - Embroidered Hands

DIY Christmas or All Occasion Gift - Embroidered Family Hand "Portrait"

I actually felt really sad when I saw this charming embroidery piece because my kids are all grown now, but I'm thinking this would be a much appreciated DIY gift once they have their own families. Do you know someone who would love a DIY Christmas gift like this? See Detroit Mommy's post at feeling stitchy for a closer look.

DIY Christmas Gifts - Pajama Eaters for Real Kids (or for the kid in all of us)

DIY Christmas Gifts - Pajama Eaters
DIY Christmas Gifts - Pajama Eaters | Source

Create this fun DIY gift for a very lucky child as a Christmas gift or an all occasion gift. The pillow body of the Pajama Eater is approximately 12 x 13 inches. They are lined and have a "dividing panel" inside so the pajamas are inserted into the zipper mouth in front. Behind this section the body is stuffed with fiberfill (making a pillow of sorts) so the Pajama Eater can sit up to eat.

Jodi at SewFearless.com is offering her original Pajama Eaters pattern here.

(The pink Pajama Eater above was my first one. I'm making four more as DIY Christmas gifts for my great nieces and nephews in the mainland.)

DIY Christmas Gifts - Easy to Make Potholders

DIY Christmas Gifts - Finger Hot Pad Potholders

For your favorite cook, create a pair of these easy to make potholders. They feature little pockets for your fingers and are lined in Insul-Bright and edged with bias tape. Tuck a special recipe in one of the pockets of this nifty potholder from Crafty Asian Girl. Here's the tutorial.

DIY Christmas Gifts - Earbud Pouch!

DIY Christmas Gift - Earbud Pouch

Gift this clever earbud pouch; it's great for Christmas stockings and perfect as an all occasion gift. This pouch will keep earbuds handy and untangled and ready for the lucky recipient to use. Carry them on the keyring to work, to the gym and they're easy to locate.

Follow the tutorial at dog under my desk.

These would be excellent stocking stuffers or DIY gifts for the co-workers, don't you think? :)

DIY Christmas Gifts - Measuring Chart

DIY Cooks' Helpers Gifts

The folks at Martha Stewart put together three very handy charts (baking pan substitutions, measurement equivalents and candy baking temp) for those who love to spend time in the kitchen. Print these out and enclose in laminated sheets for gifting to your favorite chef. Don't overlook ideas such as this for gifting......these types of DIY gifts are very much appreciatedI

DIY Christmas Gifts - Latitude Longitude Pillows

This diy gift is very versatile, for Christmas or any occasion. Just think of the possibilities.......You could make a Latitude Longitude Pillow of the spot where a person was born, where a marriage took place, (or a marriage proposal). There are so many variations and it looks really easy (and inexpensive) to make.

Here's how Midwestern Sewing Girl constructed her latitude longitude pillow. (Hint....she used CitraSolv to help transfer the image.)

DIY Christmas or All Occasion Gifts to Grow

Make a Seed Ball!

A what? A seed ball?! (What the heck????) No, it's not something to eat and it's not one of those bird seed balls for bird lovers. I'm talking about a seed ball!

Create some beauty and life into empty urban lots (or fling a seed ball onto that bald spot in your own yard). These make awesome DIY gifts for anyone who is into guerrilla gardening. Yep!

Heavy Petals tells you all about it here.

Seed Balls - If you prefer you can buy the mixture already made.

Are you planning to make any DIY Christmas gifts this year?

Here it is almost the middle of April and I've not gotten a real start on Christmas yet, but I have vowed to do it most 100% hand made.

I have a linky page on my blog for Handmade 2012. If you have the time, I would love it if you would link up this lens there. I see lots of great ideas.

Such great ideas! Some of my favorite Christmas memories are of making gifts.

I was particularly taken with the rain chain as I have a batch of colorful small buckets left from summer candles. It won't be a gift, except for for myself.
