Christmas Door Decorations

Updated on December 21, 2013

Add Beautiful Decoration To Your Entrance Door This Holiday Season

Oh I love to put beautiful Christmas door decorations on our door during the winter. I actually put them about 2 weeks before the big event because that's the tradition in our parts of the world. I have a few decorations that I rotate throughout the years. They make the home look much more inviting and perfect for welcoming the holiday season for the entire family.

There are many gorgeous door Christmas decorations that we can use, from poinsettia garlands, to full door decorations, to door decals and cute doorknob hanging ornaments, and there is plenty to choose from to adorn your house in style - from inside and from outside.

Adjustable Christmas Garland Hanger for Double Door Frames

Here you will find some gorgeous decorative items that you can hang or tape to your door - both the regular home door, as well as the garage door. Let's not forget the garage while we're decorating, as it can add that something extra for welcoming guests to our home during the Christmas party.

Enjoy the great selection and have a Merry Christmas!

Door Swags

Northlight 30" Pre-Decorated Red Poinsettia and Gold Pine Cone Artificial Christmas Teardrop Swag - Unlit
Northlight 30" Pre-Decorated Red Poinsettia and Gold Pine Cone Artificial Christmas Teardrop Swag - Unlit

I love this artificial, but beautiful pine door swap for indoor and outdoor use. If you use it outdoors, make sure that the area above it is covered. The swag is decorated with berries, poinsettias and gold pine cones, along with a few cute apples and long needle pine for extra embellishment. The swag is in the shape of a teardrop, however you can shape the branches as well for a more distinctive look.

The dimensions are 30"H x 18"W x 6"D and it comes unlit. A great decorative piece at a great price.

Our Christmas Decorated Entrance Door

Our family has decorated the door for Christmas for as long as I can remember. We always had some garland or something related to Christmas that we use to put on the door whenever we decorated the house for the occasion. And the tradition remained once I got married.

Every year when we decorate our house, we put something on the entrance door as well. I actually bought several different things that I rotate, so each year we have some other decoration that we place on the door. Nothing fancy, mind you, nothing like the beautiful decorations I selected below, but the idea is to not leave the door empty.

We always decorate it about 2 weeks before Christmas, and leave up the garland until the 6th of January, or the closest Sunday to that date. It's a lovely tradition, one that I intend on keeping forever.

Below are just two of our regular decorations that we put on our door for the Christmas occasion. It's fun because pretty much all our neighbors have something on their doors as well, so I really enjoy seeing what they've put out this year - or the next.

Lighted Christmas Poinsettia Door Swag Decoration

Absolutely gorgeous, this poinsettia garland decoration for the entrance door is perfect for making your home inviting and elegant for Christmas. It has colorful LED lights added to it so the garland gets a beautiful aura around it with the small illuminated areas. The elements that make up this poinsettia decoration are: faux evergreens, apples, cute ribbons, berries and the ribbon.

It needs 3 AAA batteries and it is 21 inches high. It is for the inside of the door. Do not use outdoors.

Making a Door Swag For Christmas

The Main Difference Between A Door Swag And A Door Wreath

Both door wreaths and swags are great decorations that can be added on the door for Christmas or other occasions (Halloween, wedding parties, etc). While the two are very similar to each other, there is however, a slight difference.

Both can be easily made using the same materials, such as dried flowers, or fresh flowers, some twigs, leaves and even real fruits. What they are different in is their shape.

When we talk about a wreath, the shape of it is always circular that includes flowers or foliage. A swag basically is a grouping of all these elements (flowers, fruits, dried material, etc) that has a fasten in the middle. A swag can have any shape, from circular to square, to triangle, to cone, all depending on the way the flowers and foliage are bundled together.

So for example if you check out the two decorations for our own doors at the top of this page, both are swags, not wreaths, because the shape is very different - first of all, it's not circular and each have their own distinct shapes, different from each other.
