(Mostly) Free Online Greeting Card Ideas

Updated on December 20, 2012

Useful Free On-Line Greeting Card Ideas

Need to send some greeting cards but you don't have time to go to the store? Then here is one answer: download free holiday greeting card templates and make your own with supplies you might have on hand.

Another answer is to send free online e-cards--no postage (or an angel with a horn!) necessary!

All you need to create your own beautiful cards to mail:

1. white (or holiday color) card-stock, 2. envelopes and 3. plenty of ink on hand.

You also might need quotes or sayings to put inside your cards! I have listed sources for you!

Now for the free e-cards, I have also included unique eCard links if you prefer to save $$$ on postage and supplies.

In to vintage?

The image to the right is from Karen's Whimsy. It is a lovely public domain image that your can print on card stock and make a card of your very own to send. The image is actually a vintage Christmas Card that you can print on paper and fold it with the saying that was originally printed with this greeting.

This site has so many free images that you can use so I am sure you will find something useful.

Embroidered Card Ideas From Kreinik

I found an easy patterned (sorry, no image) Stitched Christmas Tree Card offered by Kreinik. When you click on the link it will open a new tab and take you to a freebie that you can use for a greeting card.

That same company offers a free pattern (for personal use) for a Beaded Easter Card plus many more ideas. You just need to browse around until you find some greeting card project you like.

You can find another stitched Christmas Tree Card pattern at Form-A-Lines. These cards are not to be sold unless you put a purchased copyright sticker on them.

Holiday Card Ideas are free but supplies are not! - Find affordable greeting card supplies on Amazon:

Holiday Quotes and Sayings for Your "Blank Inside" Card! - I found the above saying on "Quote Garden".

If you are like me, I have tons of blank cards for those rare (LOL), unexpected occasions when mailing a card is necessary.

I have provided links for you to find the perfect words to fill in the blank!

Free Online eCards: Greetings included - Some have Delicious Recipes, too!

I love these websites! Send the gift of a recipe on a card. It costs nothing except your time (filling in forms--but hey, it beats a trip to the mall on Black Friday)

I sent my step-mother a free greeting for Mother's Day from DaySpring. The ecard even had music. It was FREE!

Don't be a Scrooge! Share your inspirations here.

I found another great site for free eCards!

Wrongcards--eCards that are wrong for every occasion!

I have also created a Cheeky Ecards lens you might find helpful--and just maybe entertaining.

I love the irreverent Holiday Cards found here. Of course, some might think I have a weird sense of humor! Be forewarned - some people might be offended.

What sources have you found for free greeting card patterns or templates?

That's too bad they ripped down the link -- maybe they'll have it back up before the holidays?
