Dr. Who - Party & Whovian Gifts
Great Gift and Party Ideas for Doctor Who Fans
This past year I have become very familiarized with the Doctor Who phenomenon. My 11 and 13 year old are huge fans and have gotten me on the bandwagon as well. I love the shows and all the merchandise that comes with it.
I am thinking seriously of planning a Doctor Who party and have slowly been collecting ideas. I thought that I might go ahead and share a small portion of what I have found.
Some of the Doctor Who items around my house are a stuffed talking Dalek, a sonic screwdriver and any and all else that my kids can talk me into buying that is Doctor Who themed.
For a party I want to have the decor, the edibles and the sounds be Doctor Who related. The decor is easily found on Amazon, the edibles can take some imagination, and the sounds can be from a marathon of Doctor Who in the background.
Pinterest and google have been a huge help in gaining all kinds of creative and helpful hints for the party. Hopefully you will find some of what I have found to be of help to you.
Let's get started....
Bow Ties! Easily made!
Bowties for All the Littles
One of the important details to a Doctor Who themed party is bow ties! Imagine all your guests being greeted at the door with a bow tie.
Bow ties can be easily made or cheaply bought at a thrift store. Once you make one the next ones are even easier. They are a big hit. I made one for all of the guests and that way they looked the part and were able to take a wearable party favor home.
You can use either paper or fabric. If you use paper, I recommend the nice paper from your local craft store. It is stiffer and has fabulous designs on it. Fabric works as well, just comes together differently since it is softer. I preferred the paper for these party favors.
Doctor Who Fez Hats - How-To
With the littles running around in their bowties, you can now also, have them sporting a fez. I found this tutorial to be very helpful. Again, not real costly and a fun DIY project. This is something you could involve your children with making them ahead for the party or just a fun prop.
These turned out so adorable. When they had their bowties AND fez on they looked cute and represented Dr. Who well.
I love having DIY things that I can do along with my kids. It is efficient on the price and great for quality time spent with the littles.

Not a Cake Decorator - Not a Problem
I enjoy dabbling with decorating cakes and cupcakes, but I am by no means a professional. This is something that you could have done, but where is the fun in that?!? Give this a shot.
My kids absolutely loved making these cupcakes with me. They were a bit rough the first attempt, but I am confident we will improve for the real ones.
Doctor Who Party Favors!
Tardis Journals, Tardis Keys, More Bow Ties, and more

This is an absolute fabulous site for making authentic looking party favors for your Doctor Who party. The journals are simply adorable and are fairly simple if you are the least bit crafty.
The tardis key is a great one for the girls. Use old keys, nail polish them and hang them on a lanyard or string to be worn around the girls necks. They can be a Doctor Who companion and have their own key to the Tardis.
(spare old keys can be bought in bulk online on eBay!)
