Host Your Own Extraordinary Fancy Nancy Tea Party

  1. Start with a Copy of the Fancy Nancy Tea Parties Book

The "Fancy Nancy: Tea Parties" book is a great place to start with plenty of suggestions, recipes, party ideas and crafts to help host your own Fancy Nancy Tea Party.

  2. Selecting Your Guests

The next big step in planning a party it to decide whom to invited. Will this be a special grandmother-granddaughter tea, a tea party for your favorite animals (real or stuffed) or a tea party for a group of little girls (or maybe big girls)?

  3. Choose What to Wear

Probably one of the most important things to do when giving a Fancy Nancy Tea Party is to decide on your attire (which as Nancy would say is a fancy way of saying what you are going to wear).

Is it going to be fancy? (Mais oui) Will everyone wear hats and gloves and fancy dresses?

You may want to decide what to suggest that everyone wears to the party before sending out the invitations so everyone attending can look exquisite.

Nancy believes you can really wear anything to a tea party, as long as it's fancy. She makes sure to keep extra accessories on hand to help guests dress up fancy once they have arrived at the party.

  4. Write and Send Your Tea Party Invitations

Once you have decided on the guest list, it is time to write and send out your own tea party invitations. You might even want to make some fancy invitations to go along with your party theme to send to your invitees.

  5. Plan the Refreshments

Deciding what to serve at a fancy tea party is one of the most important things about planning a tea party. After all it is a party to sit down, drink tea and eat tea treats.

Pick your favorite fruit tea and serve it with a variety of tea treats - little cucumber sandwiches and other finger sandwiches, tiny strawberries and berries and powdered cookies.

For even more ideas check the Fancy Nancy Tea Parties Book for Nancy's favorite Tea Party Recipes.

  6. Decide on the Party Location and Décor

Where you are going to hold your tea party is another important part of the party. Do you have a special tea nook in your home or garden? Do you need to create one? Once you figure out where you can hold the party, then you can decide how your are going to decorate.

Some things to consider including in your party décor are fancy placemats, tablecloth and napkins and flowers for the table. If you are lucky enough to be able to host your party in a gazebo you can decorate that with flowers, ribbons and streamers.

  7. Review Your Tea Party Manners

Tea Parties are about having and practicing good manners. Remember to say "Please" and "Thank You" along with "Can you pass me the..." instead of reaching for something. Be sure that you use your napkin and keep your elbows off of the table. Some people like to raise their pinkie finger while drinking their tea.

  8. Prepare Your Refreshments

On the day of the party (or maybe the day before) you need to prepare your refreshments. Some tea party foods like cookies can be made before hand; other like sandwiches and the tea party tea should be prepared fresh on the day of the party.

Preparing the party refreshments is one step that will need the help of a grownup.

  9. Greet Your Guests

On the day of your Fancy Nancy Party, once you have prepared your tea party food and dressed in your finest Fancy Nancy attire, be sure to great your guests warmly and welcome them to your party.

"I am so glad you could make it to the party. We're going to have a lot of fun."

  10. Bon Appetite

Start your tea party with a tea toast to a Tea Party that is not only Trés bien, but is truly Trés Magnifique!
