Five Great Holiday Gifts for Guys

Updated on April 27, 2015

Welcome to my Holiday Gift Guide!

If you're anything like me, you often times get lost in thought with what on earth to get the man of your life this year.

Last year was sort of a bust, and the year before that, you gave him a sweater that he never wears. Well, rest assured that this year can be different, here are a few holiday gifts that your average bloke will love this Christmas!

What's Your Take? - Poll #1

Are you usually stumped on what to get your man for Christmas?

1. New Cell Phone

The Latest & Greatest

The newest and greatest electronics are always a hit for your guy. For some reason, it seems that they just love technology more than anyone. So it's no surprise that this year, the ultimate gift might just be a new cell phone. So many new phones come out every year and it's easy to become outdated. Depending on your cell phone carrier, you'll have a different selection to choose from with all kinds of new features (camera, app downloads, web access, email integration, etc.) If he's recently gotten a new phone however, this might be an idea to pass over and look to other Christmas gift sets.

2. Music Players

Gotta Have Beats

Of course men love their music. Whether they love it when they're working out, working, or even sleeping. It's nice to have a reliable mp3 player there when they need it. Now I've had my fair share of bad mp3 players so I can tell you honestly that you get what you pay for. In my opinion, the iPods are well worth the money and are great quality.

I've also tried the Zune and they are great as well. The difference is that iTunes has a huge selection of music and nearly everything can be played on the iPod. Zune is Microsoft compatible and the software is of that as well. So essentially you can look at it like you're buying a Mac or a PC. Neither one is a bad option!

3. Clothes

But Be Realistic!

The common error that women make when they shop for a man is they buy things that they think would look 'cute' on their significant other. But in all reality, it's something that they'd never wear. I know this because I could buy my husband an argyle sweater because they are adorable, but he would never wear it. It's something in style, but not in his style.

So if you have a preppy dresser on your hands, then the world is your oyster. Look for polos, argyle sweaters, or anything that's in style and they'll love it. But if your man is a more traditional dresser, then try a sweatshirt, t-shirt or even a workout shirt. Many men enjoy shirts with funny little sayings on them, but many do not. So take this into account when you're purchasing clothes for the man in your life.

This book might be worth purchasing for your guy, if and only if, you think he's interested in learning how to dress nicely. Signs he might not enjoy this book include: A) he doesn't like to read or B) he thinks he dresses just fine. But hey, it's worth a try!

4. Car/Truck Stuff

Because They Like It

Have you ever met a man who didn't love his vehicle? It's a rare find. So why not play up this natural passion for their car/truck. There are so many accessories available now days including speaker systems, moonroof installation, car starters, mp3 hook-ups, and more. For something more simple, there are always a personalized car wash kit, interior cleaning products, cool floor mats, and lots more.

If the man in your life owns a truck, you have a lot more to work with. Has he mentioned a topper? Maybe some new running boards? You could also put on pipe(s), window tint, window decals, the options are endless.

5. Gaming Console

Or Games

I think it may be a proven fact that men also enjoy being competitive in gaming. For this reason, a gaming console (or games) has made my list. There are a few to choose from out there so take into account what your guy enjoys playing. If they're not into HALO or World of Warcraft (XBOX), then maybe opt for a Sports game (Madden, NHL, NBA, MLB, etc.) for PlayStation or XBOX. If they'd probably just rather play around, then try a Wii. Wii has a ton of fun games including Mario Kart, Super Mario Bros, Wii Resort, Wii Fit, and others.

Ultimately it comes down to what types of games you think he'd enjoy and roll with it. If he already has a console, then your search for holiday gifts is that much easier!
