A Holiday For Your Favorite Fragrance
Why have a National Fragrance Day?
Always celebrated on March 21st, this is the "official" day set aside to celebrate fragrance..
There is also a week designated for enjoying fragrance, the first week of June, AND a fragrance month, November.
All are special points in time when we are impelled to think about, revel in, and hopefully, buy some fragrances. Someone wants to make sure we get our full quota of good smelling scents and perfumes.
Once I started looking into some of the more arcane of "National" holidays I started to wonder... who decides on naming a day for a certain product, idea, or activity? And more germane to the focus of this lens, what can we do to observe a Fragrance Day?
It sounds like fun, because who doesn't like a delicious smell wafting their way? Which reminds me.... there is also a National Sense of Smell Day. Just in case you miss your opportunity to smell something good -and get good smelling yourself- on any of the times set aside during the year. Whether it is March 21st, the first week in June, or the month of November, try out new ways to use and to delight your sense of smell.
And by the way, have you wondered what your fragrance preference might be?

Top Ten Perfumes
These are the fragrances that women find attractive, time and again. The way they want to perfume themselves with aromatic essences and combination will make a certain fragrance blend their favorite over time. When I was growing up it was always "Chanel No. 5" , a classic rose fragrance.
For me, though, it was the spicy or fresh scents that were the best, the Diasmonds by Armani has become my latest obsession.

Which men's fragrance turns you on? Some women love to wear a man's cologne as their own, and some know which one they want their favorite man to wear.
Here are some top choices, if you are thinking about a gift for the man in your life.

For the Guys on National Fragrance Day
What's in a word?
The connotation of "fragrance" is always a good or pleasant smell.
We use many words for the idea of smell, and some are not so nice. The opposite of fragrance might be "stink", but what are the synonyms? Let's look at a Thesaurus.
aroma, aura, balm, bouquet, incense, perfume, redolence, scent, smell, spice
toilet water, air, effluvium, efflux, emanation, essence, exhalation, flavor, fragrance , musk, pungence, pungency, redolence, snuff, tang, tincture, trail, whiff
Obviously, when we think of National Fragrance Day, it is redolent of perfumes, colognes, and toilet waters, of soaps, and fragrance oils, and home air fresheners.
We start thinking about scented candles, and incense... and soon the list is growing. It isn't long before we also might start thinking about food, because the sense of smell and the sense of taste are inextricably connected.
Is this what the founders of National Fragrance Day intended.... and how do you designate a day for something, anyway?
We'll get to that.
Make 'Fragrance Day' a way to celebrate your own idea of aromatherapy.
Focus in on what you feel when you smell a certain aroma. Is there a certain scent that make you instantly relax? Feel warm and cozy? Transport you to that happy place in your life?
That is what this day is all about... filling your nose, and your mind, with something that smells just wonderful. And while you are at it, be sure to take a few minutes to allow yourself to really enjoy the time spent with scent, to really rejuvenate your senses.
Scent Diffusers make Great Mother's Day Gifts
Create Home Ambiance
This is my favorite type of home fragrance, the oil diffuses through the reeds and leaves a light scent in the room. Lasts for a long time.
Of course, there are spray, plug-ins, "tarts", but the reed diffusers seem less "heavy" and some of the others have an artificial smell.
Let's Celebrate FRAGRANCE Today!
Because we all enjoy something that smells good
I'm ready, how about you? I have to say that using fragrance in our home has been a big part of my efforts to "de-stress".
I use the reed diffusers, as well as the Body Shop oils that have their own little burner, scented candles, and incense (Shoyeido is my favorite brand). All in the name of relaxation.
I believe in the healing properties of aromatherapy - and these are ways to bring those stress taming fragrances into the atmosphere of our home.
The joys of a bath... half is the hot water and half belong to the things we add to the bath- the soaps, the gels, the soaks. And showers are just as relaxing when you have scented shampoos and bath gels. People are ingenious when it comes to ways they add aroma to almost any daily experience.
I love coconut and the way it smells. It is fabulous in this time saving all in one product. You might like other scents in this Multitasking, 3-in-1 formula.
Premium Japanese Incense - The best quality ingredients and scent for incense
Shoyeido Incense Has Been Produced by Hand for 300 Years.
There is a distinct difference between fine Japanese incense and inferior types. I have often used all the scents in the Angelic series, and they range well with one's moods. Delicate Blend of Herbs, Woods, and Resins make up these pure incense sticks, each one is a different formulation of scent.
Choose from Hope, Inspiration, Joy, Love, or Peace, depending on the mindset you wish for.

National Days Like National Fragrance Day
How do these odd holidays happen?
Holiday Insights .com says:
"A truly "National" day is literally an act of Congress and takes a lot of work. I checked into this issue with a company who wanted to create a national day and had the resources to do it. They decided it was "too much work". The first step is to contact your local congress person. Once you have their attention, you have to create the proposal and hopefully it will get onto the congressional agenda before too many years has passed. If you are intent on doing it and have the patience, it can be done.
Other "Days" are created by companies, special interest groups, local governments, sports teams, and others by simply declaring it so. I include card companies in this category, especially Ecards. It seems some of these "days" are created because there isn't anything going on a particular day, and the card companies need something for every day of the year. The vast majority of these are local, one-time events that do not capture much attention and are soon forgotten. Official or not, a number of these take hold, and show up year after year.
At least one individual or company has created a number of humorous "days". They created the day, copyrighted it (believe it or not, it's true), and then wrote a book describing them. These "days" were created simply for profit."
This helps explain why the histories of many of these "National" days are so hard to track down.
It is easy, however, to see how some of them may have caught on, especially if they help a business sell its product. And the Fragrance industry is huge.
As one person said,"The fragrance industry is big business, very big business."
But besides that obvious fact, a special day set aside for something interesting, or something we like, is just plain fun. You are reading this, aren't you?
Are you looking for some fun reason to give a gift, or talk about an odd bit of trivia, or to find a topic to focus in on? That is likely how some of these unusual days caught enough interest to get recorded. And then sometimes, just the series of weird or odd things gets our attention... just how many "special days" are there in a year? A lot more than 365!
There are some days that are set aside for more than one observance; wouldn't it be hilarious to combine them into an all-in-one for that day? Think of the possibilities. Is there any day of the year that is forlorn, and absent any special commemoration? That might be a challenge to investigate.
Aromatherapy- The Use of Fragrance for Health Benefits
Another way to bring healing: Understanding Aroma
Aromatherapy is the use of smells for everything from stress relief to building your immune system. While it may be debatable whether there are measurable improvements with many of the reputed benefits of using fragrance for relieving ailments, there is certainly an emotional connection between good smells and emotional feeling of wellbeing.
And that is nothing to sneeze at.
Legacy Scented Candles By Root Candles
You will love these candles, and truly feel that this is a purchase worth every penny paid. They burn so nicely and the scents are ambrosial.
Lime is Citrus Fresh
This candle could be listed with Summer scented candles for its fresh scent of limes . Lime blossom is the softly floral variation of the fruit fragrance, a bit sweeter and a lot softer, but still carrying the redolence of green limes.
Root candles are some of the best I've bought and used. Great scents. I love the lids which keep the candle clean and protected from dust.
I'm something of a fragrance freak.

There is so much to know about this fascinating topic. I'm surprised that more people don't make the effort to learn more about something that they spend quite a bit for, and that affects their sense of well-being.
