Jaw-dropping Halloween paper models that you can build yourself

Updated on February 14, 2016

Print - Assemble - Display!

If you like crafts / building models AND Halloween, you'll feel like a kid in a haunted candy store when you read further.

Below is a collection of absolutely amazing models made of paper which you can print for free and assemble yourself. Some of these paper models (like the haunted houses below created by designer Ray Keim), can make a gloomy addition in your Halloween party decor.

-----------------------------------------

All you need to do is:

1) print out the model plans

2) cut them out

3) assemble

4) Scare your guests witless!

-----------------------------------------

Please Note: This project is not recommended for young children. It requires a moderate degree of skill and the use of a cutting blade, which is, extremely dangerous. When using cutting blades always use protective eye-wear.

With that said, Abandon all hope ye who enter here..

Ray Keim is a wizard when it comes to the design and crafting of these ghoulishly amazing paper models. Some of the model buildings (listed below), where built on request of Universal Studios. The 3D paper models are based on the Halloween Horror Nights haunted house facades at Universal.

He offers these fantastic Halloween paper models for free on his website. I picked a couple of personal favorites from the site but do yourself a favor and check out the rest of the jaw dropping scale models at Haunted Dimensions.

Note: All his paper models are free to use and he ask that it be kept that way.

The Town of Ravensblight

Description from the Ravensblight site: One of the most interesting features of RavensBlight Township is the fact that the entire town has been known to vanish from time to time, reappearing in different places. It may sometimes be found in the Midwest, while at other times it's apparently located along the East or West coast. The town sometimes exists a few miles from an old country road in Minnesota, while at other times you'll find it resting in the Florida swamplands. What happens to visitors in this odd little town when it occasionally vanishes has never been fully determined.

The following paper models are from the Ravensblight website, run by the multi talented Ray. It's said that these macabre creations have sprung from the dark art of paper crafting that he so obsessively practices. His morbid and twisted sense of humor will leave you reeling with laughter and nausea. His creations are a brutal delight on the senses.

Following is a couple of favorites from the www.ravensblight.com website.

Description from the Ravensblight site: This lighthouse is very old and said to be extremely haunted, both by the ghosts of it's former keepers and by whatever drove them insane. So it might make an ideal studio, summer cottage or handy place to go quietly mad. Model stands 10.5 inches high, and includes your choice of a red light, green light, yellowish light or darkened lamp room.

Description from the Ravensblight site: This ancient stone gargoyle is something of a mystery around RavensBlight. It's very old and no one knows who carved it. So of course, there are lots of rumors about it. Some say it was intended to be a blocky approximation of some actual creature, while others say it was never actually finished. They say the artist carving it was working on it's face late one night when a beam of moonlight caused it to come to life and devour him. Model measures roughly 6 inches wide and 7.5 inches tall, 14.5 inches tall with the display shelf (which is included).

Description from the Ravensblight site: "Does your crypt or tomb lack that ominous appearance so vital to scaring away intruders? Does your laboratory fail to properly horrify those you entrap? Has your attic or cellar lost its terrifying atmosphere of inescapable doom? Perhaps all you need are a few human skulls scattered about! And now you can have as many as you wish. This model is LIFE SIZED and features enough detail to give even the most horrific among us a shiver. (My apologies to the most horrific among us, nothing personal.)"

Description from the Ravensblight site: Ever daydream of being a pirate? Does the notion of setting sail for the East Indies (and plundering any ships you meet along the way) bring a smile? If so, then this paper model should make your inner buccaneer very happy. The Dark Promise features ominous black sails, gold plated hardware and a nice bright red stripe (said to be painted in human blood).

Description from the Ravensblight site: This flat cut-out skeleton is actually life sized (approximately 5'4" tall) and can be posed which ever way you like. The website says: "It was created from photographs of a very good quality model (which was cast from actual human remains) so this skeleton is as medically accurate as it is ghastly and chilling".

Description from the Ravensblight site: This gloomy old house was built over 100 years ago by Dr. Lawrence Starc. It originally served as a sanitarium and it's history is very dark and disturbing. Phantoms are said to roam the halls at Midnight, and the locals won't go anywhere near the place. And now Starc Manor can be yours! This model measures roughly 6 inches tall and 9 inches across. The construction is fairly simple, so it won't take too long for you to have your own little crumbling brick mansion.

Description from the Ravensblight site: Does the full moon sometimes fail to cause your metamorphosis into a horrible shambling monstrosity? Do overcast evenings prevent the moon's rays from having the desired effect? Yes, this sort of situation can be most embarrassing, but now you can scamper about the woods in style, letting this fearsome mask strike terror into the hearts of anyone foolish enough to... well, to be frightened by a paper mask. But it IS rather fearsome looking, and makes an interesting wall hanging when not in use.

Description from the Ravensblight site: Long ago, an odd little village was built by a very mysterious group of people. The town's name has long since been forgotten, although it's inhabitants were once quite wealthy, some say due to the use of witchcraft. Eventually they all perished, leaving their mansions to crumble and fall. But a few of these buildings still stand, and at night they become filled with a supernatural fog. Strange lights glow in all the windows and frightening sounds are often heard. Visitors are, of course, very rare but always welcome.

Description from the Ravensblight site: This gloomy old mansion was built in 1817 by Gideon Darc, a man with a most unpleasant reputation. In fact, the entire Darc family was always feared and shunned by the local villagers. Of course, the last known members of the Darc family passed away over a hundred years ago. But the villagers still whisper about their terrible deeds, and the Darc property is avoided by everyone. Still, you might enjoy owning the place if you don't mind drafty rooms. And there aren't many ghosts, it's mostly just full of 'shadow people'.

Description from the Ravensblight site: Here we have an ancient crumbling gothic chapel, long abandoned and said to be very badly haunted. Even in the light of day, the interior of this towering ruin remains dark as night. It's as though even the daylight refuses to enter... and if this is the sort of place you've been longing to own, then this is your lucky day! This gloomy little model is easy to assemble, and like any proper ancient stone sanctuary, this chapel includes a secret hidden vault that's handy for storing a wide variety of items. So print out the model and instructions, assemble, and enjoy being the new landlord of a most unusual property.

Description from the Ravensblight site: This fantastic Haunted House will strike fear and awe in the heart of your guests. It can also double as a haunted doll house for your little monsters!

Cut out little squires in the windows, stick yellow acetate (or any color you like), to the back of the cut-out windows and put a small battery tea light candle inside the house to give the illusion of a "ghostly glow" emanating from it. Have fun :)

DO NOT use a real candle or you'll burn the paper house down AND your house down!!

'Deluxe Coffin Boxes' Paper Models Tutorial

Description from the Ravensblight site: A frighteningly wonderful idea would be put treats (or the odd finger..) in these Coffin Boxes and hand them out as favors.

These 6 inch coffin boxes feature realistic wood textures, satin lined interiors, authentic hardware and your choice of several decorations for the lids. There's also a weathered shipping crate for the nosferatu on the go. It doesn't have a satin lining but it does include a nice comfy layer of soil in the bottom. And all of these boxes include an optional skeleton!

Description from the Ravensblight site: One can hardly visit a place like RavensBlight without encountering a few ravens. In fact, here's one you can keep as your very own! This fearsome creature measures roughly 9.5 inches from head to tail, and has it's own crumbling piece of stone to perch upon. You'll also find a few custom plaques to decorate the stone, including a blank plaque to write your own names or mysterious messages on.

Description from the Ravensblight site: A carnival came to RavensBlight years ago, and they left something behind when they moved on... a rather unusual carousel. It's been sitting out in a field, warping and aging, for a long time now. But they say something odd happens when the light of a full moon strikes this carousel... they say the few remaining light bulbs begin to flicker, the sound of carnival music fills the air, and the skeletal horses begin to spin merrily around. They also say anyone who takes a ride will slowly vanish. Folks who've had this odd experience usually turn back up a few years later (but never say anything about where they've been). Model measures 6 inches tall, 5.5 inches wide, and it spins!

Description from the Ravensblight site: Sometimes folks driving through RavensBlight have mysterious problems with their cars, leaving them stranded on a desolate stretch of highway. Other times, they get run off the road by the Phantom Semi. But no matter what the cause, if you find yourself having to hitchhike under a full moon, there's a good chance you'll be offered a ride by the driver of this rusty old rig. If he seems a little odd, it might be best not to say anything. Model measures 7 inches long, 14.5 inches with trailer (which is included).
