Jason Comes Home

Here's a set that haunts my dreams. I've even held it in my hands once. But there's always something else I seem to want a tiny bit more. Often Freddy steps in somehow with a new film or something. But I long for this set.

A Jason mask, the first eight films, and that lovely box. I'm the kind of person who would decorate my desk with this set. There are also tons of special features I can get nowhere else. There just aren't too many quality collections for Jason, so to me this is covet-worthy. All pictures courtesy of Amazon unless noted otherwise.

This set includes the mask. I don't think you could really wear it, as it isn't bigger than the DVDs. But it looks lovely right where it is. There are the first eight films: Friday the 13th, Part 2, Part 3, The Final Chapter, A New Beginning, Jason Lives, The New Blood, Jason Takes Manhattan.

Features include "Tales from the Cutting Room" with deleted scenes, and eight part feature "The Friday the 13th Chronicles" hosted by Tom Savini, three part featurette "Secrets Galore Behind the Gore" and "Crystal Lake Victims Tell All".

That's enough entertainment for even the most die-hard Jason fan. But there's more like a featurette on Jason and Friday the 13th collectibles, "Friday Artifacts and Collectibles" , plus trailers. Whew! Tons of Jason entertainment all in one package. Oh, did I mention the 3-D glasses and booklet?

The Set

Eight Reasons You Need This Set

1) Friday the 13th: Pamela Vorhees! Who says a mother's love won't make her go on a bloody killing spree? You also get little Jason in the end.

2) Friday the 13th Part II: Jason is all grown up and going on his own spree, to avenge his mother. Sweet to see a family that close.

3) Friday the 13th Part III: You'd think two massacres would teach people to avoid the lake. The three if for 3-D by the way. One of the funniest of the entire series. Provided you find Jason kills funny.

4) Friday the 13th Part VI, The Final Chapter: Fans really wept over this. Jason was dead and gone, killed off by a kid pretty much like us.

5) Friday the 13th Part V, A New Beginning: Tommy Jarvis is the boy who wouldn't die. He's back to fight Jason in a new film. But is it even Jason? This film has two Jasons, at least.

6) Friday the 13th Part VI, Jason Lives: Tommy's need to "kill" Jason yet again releases him for another round of kills for dear old Mom.

7) Friday the 13th Part VII, The New Blood: Pretty Tina awakens Jason by accident. Which is a good thing because there's a house full of obnoxious teens that needs taken care of.

8) Friday the 13th Part VIII, Jason Takes Manhattan: Lucky folks saw this one in the film house. Can NYC take on Jason and live?

Why do I want this set? Look at the pretty colors on the packaging. Look at the mask. Yes, for some reason Jason masks are all pretty much this side of junky. It isn't like you could resell the masks and steal a profit, sheesh.

But still, it is a nice mask as miniatures go. Compared to the clunky, over-sized, can't even wear it Freddy glove I got, it rocks. Then there are all those extras. I guess you have to be the kind of person who watches his films a lot. I do.

This would beat surfing You Tube for pirated content any day. Not that I ever do that, mind you.

What would I do with it? Covet it. Most likely rarely play it, or if I did be very ginger and tender with the DVDs. Of course I want to see the films and everything else, but I don't want to wreck it either.

This would be Jason on tap. So hopefully I'd get a lot of use out of it. Maybe I'd keep replaying the scene from Jason Takes Manhattan where he raises his mask and the tough guys make tracks. See? Jason is smarter than people give him credit for. He knows he's...unique.

My old VHS Tapes - Some other films too, oh boy!

I wouldn't get rid of them, and these aren't the only Jason films I have. But my collection is scattered around the house. Sniff, weep, suffer.

People who would love this set

Any person still on VHS You know they are going to break at some point, or the machine will eat them. Get the DVD set for twenty years more entertainment.

New Fans: There are fans who weren't born when Jason made all these films. Treat them to a collection.

Horror Film Buffs: A nice collection of his first eight films. You could pony up the next four if you like. Films nine, ten, Freddy vs. Jason and the remake. Honestly...

Savini Fans: He's God to a lot of horror makeup and horror film buffs. He once saw a mask I revamped and liked it. True story.

Jason fans! He loves his mommy. We love him. Enough said.

Momma's Boys: So is he, and NOBODY laughs at him.

Your Grandma: Seriously, once she sees Jason she be more than happy to get you all the Monster High stuff you want instead. Come to think of it, this series is old enough for your grandmother to have seen it in the filmhouses.

Anyone with a ringtone that: Goes ki-ki-ki-ma-ma-ma, plays the theme from the TV show, plays anything from any of the films.

You Could Add...

Friday the 13th: The Ultimate Collection Unpackaging and In Depth

Another fan shares his passion. Yes his set is damaged but that is pretty rare. Honestly? Go with Amazon they replace damaged items, no problem. So do most of the sellers there.

C'mon there's got to be at least one Jason fan who doesn't own it yet. If you have it, is it awesome?

Do you covet this set?
