Frosty Costumes: Homemade and Bought

Frosty the Snowman is one of the more endearing Christmas fictional characters, as his friendly disposition and love of children shines out from his personality, and that rotund belly and joyful laughter, along with his simple way of thinking, make us wish we all knew someone like him.

That makes for a great choice for a Christmas costume portraying this popular character.

Because there aren't quite as many Christmas costumes worn as there are Halloween costumes, you can really differentiate yourself at a party by dressing up as a Christmas character.

Frosty the Snowman is near the top of the list for popular Christmas characters to dress up as for the holiday season, and so is a good choice and option.

Since Frosty isn't very complex in his look, there aren't a lot of things men can do to look a little different. But you could wear a little different top hat, scarf, or maybe eyes and nose.

But as mentioned already, there aren't that many people dressing up as Frosty or a snowman at a party, so you really shouldn't have to be concerned over that.

For the ladies, there are a lot more options because they don't tend to imitate the actual look of frosty, but choose rather to have a cute and/or sexy costume that includes just enough elements to know they're dressing up as frosty, but in a very different way than we think of traditionally.

Frosty the Snowman Christmas Costume

For adults who want to look close to what most people consider Frosty the Snowman to look like, choosing what is called a "mascot" costume is probably the best way to go.

They include the entirety of the face and body of Frosty, and have a great face, as the Frosty costume below shows.

Notice the simplicity of the Frosty costume in case you may want to make your own. To make it a believable Frosty, all you need is the top hat, scarf, carrot nose, and buttons going up the front.

But for the not so crafty, a Frosty costume like the one below looks terrific.

Frosty Christmas Costume with Carrot Nose and Black Feet

Even though this is another Frosty the Snowman Christmas mascot costume, as you can see when comparing it with the Frosty costume above, it looks very different.

The most obvious difference is the eyes, where the Frosty on the bottom has much smaller eyes, which aren't really defined, which takes a little bit of the humanity we usually think of when thinking about the big snowman. Also not defined as much is the mouth of Frosty in the bottom costume.

But what is kind of cool is the inclusion of the carrot looking nose, which does add a nice touch to the costume.

The other two things that differentiate one Frosty costume from the other is the different hat, along with the black feet on the bottom. Also a little different are the scarves, with the scarf of Frosty below being much smaller.

Overall I like the top Frosty mascot costume better, but if you weren't able to look at them so closely, they would both look good. I think I prefer the top one because of that overtly friendly face we appreciate about the jolly snowman.

Cute, Sexy Frosty Costumes for Women

Here are a couple of Frosty the Snowmen costumes for women, that are very cute and sexy, and would be a big hit at any Christmas party. Just be prepared to fight off all the male advances when you dress up as Frosty in a way they haven't seen before.

Like the Frosty mascot costumes above, these two Frosty costumes for ladies are very similar in look, but also have some substantial differences.

The most obvious differences between the two are the hats and boots, and the three buttons going up the dresses are spaced a little differently apart. Also a little different are the scarves, which while the same in color, have the stripes spaced a little further apart, and the colors are a little different as well. One is red and black striped while the other has red and white stripes.

Finally, the other little difference is the top one is a little looser and flares out more, while the bottom one is a little tighter fitting. They're both fantastic, and would look wonderful on anyone wearing either one.

Homemade Frosty Costumes for Children

Many children absolutely love Frosty the Snowman, and so it's not surprising when they want to dress up in a costume imitating their snowy hero.

Here are a couple of homemade Frosty costumes that are somewhat self-explanatory as to the way they were put together.

The bottom one is a little easier to understand, as it was mostly stuffed underneath to give the appearance of being a round Frosty. For the rest it was just a matter of getting white material to wear as snow, and add the facial features, hat, buttons and scarf.

For the top one, that was a little more complicated, although still very easy to do.

There the body was made from the base of an old sweatshirt that had the sleeves cut off. From there cotton was taken from an old pillow and glued all over the sweatshirt to create the fluffy snowman look.

After that some sparkles were added, being put in place permanently with a spray adhesive.

For the wider and rounder middle part of the costume, a round pop-up clothes hamper was used to make it stick out in the way you see here. The bottom of the hamper was cut out and added to the inside to create the round, stomach look of Frosty. Pretty cool.
