6 Fun Things to do at Your Halloween Party
These Are the Fun Things We do at Our Halloween Party
Our family has a Halloween party every year. I'd like to share with you a few of the fun things we did at our party last year. I've included directions for playing the Capture the Witch game and how to have an Eyeball Race, plus more!
Every Halloween party should, at least, have a Costume Contest and Pumpkin Decorating! We always end it all up by watching a favorite Halloween movie! We always have a lot of fun and I hope these ideas will help you.
I've included lots of photos of our family party, too!

1. Eyeball Race
How to Play the Eyeball Race
The object of the Eyeball Race is to be the first to carry your "eyeball" on a spoon without dropping it until you reach the finish line. We used wrapped gumball eyeballs and kitchen spoons. This was a fun game, but not as easy as it looks!
2. The Capture the Witch Game
Here's how you play...
To play the Capture the Witch Halloween game all you need is a costume witch hat and a frisbee with a hole in the middle. Both should be easy to find at this time of year. The object is to throw the frisbee and have it land over the point of the witches hat. Everyone gets 3 tries throwing the frisbee. If the frisbee lands on the hat brim, you get 5 points, if it lands OVER the POINT of the hat you get 20 points. (You can use a different point system, we just made this up.)
Everyone in the family took a try at this game, even Scott! (Scottie and Lacey's Dad) We had a difficult challenge as the wind was blowing and kept blowing the frisbee in the wrong direction and the hat kept flying away! We finally put a rock on the hat to keep it down. This game could also be played inside, but it was fun played outside, even with the wind. Scott was the winner in this game! :)
3. Halloween Costume Contest
A fun thing to do at any Halloween party is a costume contest. Usually, only a few members of the family dress up, and the others vote for their favorite. To help out the voters, we have a few categories, such as Cutest, Most Original, and Most Scary. By the time we do that, everyone in the contest is assured a prize! It's all for fun anyway, and the kids like the suspense. :)
The winners from the contestants below were: Most Scary: Douglas as Darth Vader; Most Original: Lacey as Countess of Deadwood Manor; and Cutest: Scottie as Buddy Holly! Everyone is a winner!

4. One-House Trick-or-Treat Fun - A Family Tradition
Every year we have family One House Trick-or-Treat. The one house for trick-or-treating is mine!
How do you have a one house trick-or-treat?
They start out at the front door, and then proceed to the side door, next...on to the back door. Then they come in and trick-or-treat at all of my inside doors! I have to rush to get behind each door to give out candy.
Last year, my daughter helped me with alternate doors. In between she changed clothes and when they knocked at the door, she changed her voice and pretended to be someone entirely different. She talked with different accents, too. I have to tell you, it was sooo funny, and totally unexpected!!
We started doing this crazy thing when my oldest grandchild, Scottie, was little and Vicky didn't want to take him out to trick-or-treat. My son (and Scottie's uncle), Brian, came up with this idea because he didn't want him to miss out. As you can see, Brian also joins in the fun and Scottie, at age 18, still loves it, too. It's so much fun, I recommend it to everyone!
Our trick-or-treaters are: Wrestler Buzz Tyler, Darth Vader, Buddy Holly, and the Countess of Deadwood Manor.
5. Jack-O-Lantern Decorating
This is a fun activity that we did last year at our Halloween party. We used orange paper plates and stick-on faces. You could also use these stick-ons for real pumpkins. Or, use markers to draw on decorations. Lacey and Douglas had fun getting creative and decorating these plates as jack-o-lanterns. After the party, they took them home to decorate their room!
6. Halloween Movie Time - We like to watch a Scooby Doo Halloween movie every year. It's tradition!
The last thing we do at our Halloween party is movie time! After the food is all eaten, games all played, trick-or-treating all done...the kids all climb on my bed and watch Halloween movies on the big screen television. Now it's time to eat candy and popcorn! What a fun party we've had!
