Funny Costume Ideas for Halloween 2015
Funny Costume Ideas for Adults
Halloween is the only time of the year when adults are not only allowed, but encouraged, to act childish and play make-believe. So live it up! Here are a dozen funny costume ideas you can make at home plus a few you can buy online, as well as a video with a few last-minute ideas that might inspire you. You're sure to find something to put a smile on everyone's face.
A Few "Pun-ny" Costumes You Can Make at Home
Gum on the Bottom of a Shoe: Dress all in pink, tie a shoe on your head, and chew bubble gum.
Blessing in Disguise: Put on a pair of dark sunglasses and a dark hat, and wear a sash with the words "Bless you" written on it.
Cereal Killer: Dress all in black, and glue mini cereal boxes to your shirt. Stick plastic knives into the boxes.
Black Eyed Pea: Paint a large "P" on a white T-shirt and a black circle around your eye.
God's Gift to Women: Gift-wrap a large box and cut holes in the top and sides for your head and arms. Add a gift tag that says "To: Women" and "From: God."
The Highway: Wear a black shirt with double yellow lines painted down the middle, and glue or pin toy cars to the shirt.
Babysitter: Strap a toy doll to your rear end and sit on it.
Mail Carrier: Dress in a light blue shirt and dark blue pants, and sew a stuffed dog by the mouth to your pant leg.
Identity Crisis: Wear any color shirt, and stick name tags, each with a different name, on the shirt. This can also be called Identity Theft.
His (or Her) Shadow: Dress all in black, including black face paint, and follow your friend or partner around the Halloween party.
Holy Cow: Wear a black-and-white T-shirt, put a cowbell around your neck, and wear a halo made of a foil-wrapped coat-hanger.
Freudian Slip: Wear a dark slip and cover it with cut-out quotes from Dr. Freud.
Bull in a China Shop: Wear a Viking helmet, a Chicago Bulls T-shirt, or another signifier of bullness, draped with string loops holding ceramic figures or teacups, broken or not.
Bottom Line: Wear a severe black dress with a duct-taped line across the hem (tuck in a few fake dollar bills). Carry a ruler and a ping-pong paddle to enforce market discipline.
Funny Pre-Made Costumes Online
If you don't want to make something, Amazon has more strange costumes every year. Here are some of this year's choices. Search also on EBay: you'll see some in good taste, and some not.
1. Inflated Ballerina
Bigger Is, er, Better?
Go twirling around your Halloween party in an inflatable ballerina costume. This zany outfit includes a full-body inflatable outfit with a pink leotard, gold tutu, battery pack, and fan. It's funny for women, but even funnier for guys. Or check out more inflatable Halloween costumes on Amazon and elsewhere that can turn you into a sumo wrestler, superhero, hula girl, clown and more.
A Funny Costume Idea if You Can't Decide What to Wear
Can't decide on a costume? Then don't settle for just one! This adult Split Personality good guy/bad guy costume lets you go to the party as two personas: a normal, suit-wearing good guy, and a wild purple-zebra-stripe-wearing villain.
To add even more drama to the costume, you can add face makeup and a wild hairdo on the villain side.
Amazon also offers a cool superhero/journalist split personality costume, for those who don't want to be villains, even half-villains.
Have you ever dreamed of being a cover girl or guy?
Move aside, Kardashians. This Halloween YOU can be the subject of a cover story on National Enquirer.
Be the talk of the ball. But when the party's over, you can toss the magazine cover and shed any worries about being hounded by the paparazzi.
Cowboy and Trusty Friend
Not many homes, offices or stores allow pets, but if you come riding into the Halloween party on this inflated horse, you're sure to turn some heads and be welcomed with smiles.
Don't forget the cowboy hat (sold separately).
5. Help! The Shark Ate My Costume!
Jaws! This big blue shark might remind some party guests that the ocean isn't all about sipping margaritas on the beach. Great for seeking revenge on any of your friends who are planning a trip to Hawaii, Mexico, or the Caribbean while leaving you in the cold. Apparently there is an emergency hatch in this shark-shaped tunic that allows you to get a second arm out of the costume, but you have to hike up the hem of the costume to use the bathroom.
"It's a Generic Costume"
If you can't afford a "real" costume or don't want to create a "pun-ny" one at home, here's another option: get a generic bar-coded shirt like the one shown here from Zazzle.
At Zazzle, you'll find a variety of pre-made Halloween costume shirts that you can purchase online.
