Green thumbs run in my family, but I did not get one. What I do have is an intimate knowledge of the gifts gardeners love to get. In exchange for finding presents that my horticulturally gifted friends and family enjoy receiving, I get the fruits of their labor in the form of plants, flowers, and vegetables during the growing season.

Since I am so well rewarded for my garden gift finding prowess, I research tirelessly during the holiday season. I find there is nothing that tastes better than fresh, ripe vegetables and fruits right out of the garden. Nothing perfumes the air as wonderfully as a freshly cut bouquet of flowers. I am inspired by these edible and enjoyable gifts from the earth and my enthusiasm pays off by finding amazing and useful gardening tools and decorations that thrill my green thumbed cultivators.

My Favorite Gardening Gift Idea Is The Photo Planter

You can find gardening gift ideas online and at your local stores. I love the online shops. If you know what you are looking for right off the bat, check sites like Amazon, Gardeners, Wind and Weather, Plow & Hearth. or Not On The High Road. And you can check these sites if you have no idea what you are looking for. Another source of unique gifts for gardeners is Uncommon Goods.

Before you buy any old gift, be sure you know exactly what kind of gardening your loved one enjoys. There are different kinds of gardens and each has it's own special tools and accessories. Some of the distinctive styles of gardening are:

  • Vegetables
  • Flower
  • Indoor
  • Outdoor

There are also different types of people who enjoy gardening. These groups of people might have different needs than someone who has gardening experience, a a large yard, or physical limitations. Here's who I mean:

  • Seniors
  • Kids
  • City Dwellers

Seniors have challenges that are very different to the needs of kids and youthful growers. People who live in the city have very different needs than someone who has a yard and a huge garden plot.

Early Vegetable Garden Starter Supplies

Vegetable gardens are the source of fresh vegetables during the summer growing months. People who plant vegetables sometimes start their plants indoors before the weather allows the plants to grow outside. The basic supplies one needs to do would make great gifts and they are:

  • Containers - these can be pots or flats
  • Potting Mix - I've read that the mix is better than actual soil
  • Seeds - buy some unique seeds for your gardener to plant
  • Labels & Markers - to mark what seeds are growing in what containers

You can buy these gifts as I've listed them, individually, or you can buy them in a garden starting kit, all together.

Garden Tools Make Great Gift Ideas

Mary Mary, Quite Contrary, How Does Your Garden Grow? There's no cockle shells or pretty maids in your friend's garden, I'd bet. It grows with soil cultivation and hard work, that's how.
