Geeky Halloween Pumpkins - Carvings Beyond Your Wildest Imagination

Updated on August 21, 2013

Pumpkin works of geeky art

Geeky is hot! Why have your regular Jack-o-lanterns like everyone else when your Halloween pumpkins can be something unique and well, geeky!

When I decided to make a collection of geeky Halloween pumpkin carvings I knew I will find pumpkins that would be beyond amazing but nothing could have prepared me for the awesomeness I found. Nothing. It was beyond my wildest imagination and I can now say there's a new name in my top modern artists list!

Alex Wer aka The Pumpkin Geek makes the most amazing pumpkin carvings and it's really easy to fall in love with his works. This whole page could be easily dedicated to him, well in most part it actually is.

He was kind enough to grant me the permission to feature his works (for my and your enjoyment).

As I know we all are not as skilled if you scroll down the page you will also find pumpkin carving project suitable for you and me with a ton of stencils you can use to make your masterpiece.

Meet Alex Wer - The Pumpkin Geek - Master of his craft

This man is an artist and by scrolling down this page you will soon see why. There is one thing I resent him though... He made it extremely difficult for me to pick out just a few of his works to spotlight as one is better than another and I would have no objection on featuring all of his works...

Star Trek Carved Pumpkins - To Boldly Go

Star trek pumpkins are a must for any geek! These are all carved by Alex Wer and were showcased at the Star Trek convention.

Star Trek Captains

Close ups of some of the most important characters in the Star Trek universe - ship captains. I would go for Jean Luc as he's my favourite ST captains of all time.

To see more of his Star Trek carving creations go see his Star Trek Collection and Star Trek Gals Collection.

This one is one of my favourite works of his - I mean who wouldn't love a Star Wars and Star Trek mash up?

I do love all of my space sci-fi series and franchises but if I would have to pick one I would use the force and go with Star Wars, it was something I grew up with (although I did watch Star Trek grewing up too)... My partner on the other hand is a die hard Trekkie and hasn't even watched Star Wars before we started dating (can you imagine it? It was a totals shock to me!). He now likes Star Wars too but we often clash on which is better Star Wars or Star Trek so if we were to have a geeky pumpkin for Halloween this one would be it!

The Original Star Wars Pumpkin

If you ask any true Star Wars fan which triology is better; first (IV, V, V) or second (I, II, III) they will unanimously vote for the first (original).

Luke I am Your Father!

One of the most epic characters and villians in the history of television... Darth Vader.

Browser From Super Mario - From my favourite video game

This takes Browser to a whole another level. I dare say he looks better on a pumpkin than in real life, erm I mean in the video game.

Or Maybe Something From The Marvel Universe? - Wolverine!

The blades just pop.

A few more gems from his TwitPic Feed

Here are four more glorious pumpkins but I do encourage you to check out his entire collection at Twitpic, you won't regret it!

If you are impressed as I am with his creations be sure to check out his webpage or even order your own pumpkin!

The Geekie Awards August 2013 - Best Craft/Art Award - One Pumpkin to Rule Them All

The 1st Annual Geekie Awards were held on the August 18th in Hollywood and Wer was one of the nominees in the Art and Craft category (see all nominees). The competition was tough and all the entries were fantastic, there's only one that can rule them all and it was a pumpkin!

Simple Geeky Carved Pumpkins We Mere Mortals Can Make =)

I don't know about you, dear reader, but I for myself am sure I would never, ever (ok maybe in a year or so) be able to carve a masterpiece such as Alex does so from now on we will take it down a notch (quite a few notches).

Simple Geek Pumpkin Carving Stencils / Templates

Think Geek had a contest where their users were submitting geeky pumpkin carving patterns and most of these are doable. Check them out and grab the ones you like the most!

Ghost from Super Mario

Not the easiest of creations but I think the ghost from Super Mario is doable. No shading needed.

Minecraft

Minecraft is extremely popular and since all of Minecraft world is square and pix-elated you should have no trouble carving up this one.

Pac Man and Ghosts

One of the most legendary games of all time! This one could be my project as I love Pac Man (and it looks a bit easier than Super Mario). Pac Man is one of the first games I have ever played and I enjoy it even today.

My youngest son loves Star Wars especially Darth Vader. I would like to get him a Darth Vader carved one. If not I think painting one would be an excellent option too.

I always loved these kinds of jack-o-lanterns, but never had the expertise to make them. Love the Star Wars ones!
