Gifts and Gadgets for a Mom

Updated on November 11, 2012

Gadgets a Mom would love!

Budgets are tight! Mom's want a gift, but not just any gift will do. It must be useful. It must be practical. It must not make her feel guilty about the money you spent to buy that gift.

I get lots of newsletters--most of which I delete after skimming the content; one titled "Best Gifts and Gadgets for Moms" Life Made Better from Momster got my attention. The Moms on that site recommended some wonderful gifts that they have gotten and use. Thought I would share some of them with you. After all, Moms do need gifts every once in a while--not just for Mother's Day!

Mom Gift Idea #1: A Coupon Organizer to hang on the fridge! - Mothers and saving money go hand in hand.

The mom who suggested this coupon organizer says: "I am so forgetful that I had to come up with something to help me remember to use the coupons and after all, every nickel and dime adds up."

How true. I find that I have to have my coupons in a place that is easy to see. If they are not visible they will not get used.

So, if you are one of my kids or grandkids, this would be a great gift for this Mom.

Mother's Gift Idea #2: Shoe Bag Organizer - Moms just love everything in its own place!

What one mom said about the shoe bag: "Hang one in your office or craft room, in a bathroom cabinet, near an outside door, one in your garage. Are you getting the idea for all the things they can hold? I even have one for all my gardening supplies-only thing that doesn't fit is the watering can!"

Bathroom: hair clips, razor refills, bobby pins, tweezers, nail clippers, nail polish, cotton balls, q-tips.....

RocketMom's room: articles from newspapers, pens, sticky note pads, sd cards, zip drives, cell phone, chargers, snacks, microfiber cloths for wiping off a computer keyboard...

Cheap, cheap, cheap. Clear so you can see what is in each pocket!

Mom Gift Idea #3: A Calendar for the "SuperMom"! - Amy Knapp's Big Gird Family Wall Calendar

Big squares to write on make this calendar a best seller year after year for busy Moms. My daughter has three children and she needs all the space she can get. This gift would be a perfect addition to her kitchen message center.

To quote the description on Amazon: It has the biggest squares, 2.1"x 3.5", to give you plenty of room to write in, the best stickers to remind you of important events, and a pocket for bills and loose paperwork.

Mom Gift Idea #4: Sylvania SDVD702 Portable DVD Player - Affordable Peace Keeper for long trips!

As the editor of the Momster Blog stated on a past post (unfortunately article no longer available on line): [On Vacations} "It [the DVD player] has made our lives so much better - our son gets to watch a short movie while we watch the News and there's no more fighting over the TV (and then missing the whole news cast from all the arguing)."

I apologize for the article I quote not being on line, but the link above will take you to the new version of this informative blog for Mothers. It was acquired by Family Circle in 2011 and the archives not longer have the article that I found so inspirational for these gadget gifts for moms.

An affordable DVD player and top seller on Amazon. It also has good reviews.

Days to Celebrate Mother: - Celebrate the Estrogen!

Sure, Mother's Day is the obvious one, but there are plenty of excuses to give a Mom a present. Absolutely, on her birthday. I, personally, do not have a birthday anymore, so that one is out for me. Just so you do not have to rake your memory for a good occasion, I will give you the links to some worthwhile days that celebrate women and mothers.

I have already stated that the magnetic coupon organizer would be my choice for a Mother's Gift. What is your opinion? Do you have more suggestions that could go on this page? Feel free to add your response below!

Oh yes, don't forget to give me a thumbs up or send this page to someone. Thank you in advance for doing this.

I love the calender idea! Moms have a lot going on and a calender is one of the things that make life easier! Thumbs up!!

I know what one of MY favorite gadget gifts was. Years ago I was given a magnetic note holder that has a pocket which will hold 3 x 5 inch pads of paper or cards, plus room for a pen (mine is about 2" x 4" x 6"). I couldn't get along without it -- paper & pen immediately handy on the 'fridge' in the kitchen (where I spend a lot of time each day) for adding to grocery lists, writing down telephone numbers or taking notes while on the phone, calender reminders, etc. I've found it invaluable and use it every day!

I'm sure there's something here that my mum would love to receive. I'm eyeing up the portable DVD player myself :)

@Lee Hansen: I like the coupon organizer here because there is a place for the scissors to call home.

I like the coupon organizer. I'm always trying to find the right place to keep 'em so hubby can use them if he runs to the market when I'm not around.
