Jolly Green Giant Halloween Costumes

Updated on October 2, 2014

How to Do a Jolly Green Giant Costume

Everyone knows the Jolly Green Giant! He has been a fixture of American advertising and culture since 1928. This year, why not don a costume of the most famous green goliath in the world: The Jolly Green Giant.

A Jolly Green Giant costume is impressive, yet very simple to put together. Purchase a ready made costume, or make your own - no sewing required!

Go green for Halloween....Jolly Green!

Pre-Made Green Giant Costumes

Adult Sizes

The easiest way to put together a Jolly Green Giant costume is to simply buy one. These two are good choices, depending on the style you're looking for.

This is the classic ready made costume that would be perfect for any guy. Simply add some green face paint, and you are ready to go.

Ho Ho Ho, Green Giant!

Go for it! Green tights!

Obviously, not every man would be willing to commit to a costume enough to wear a pair of tights, but if you are looking for the most outrageously accurate depiction of the Jolly Green Giant, then this is the way you'll go.

Make Your Own Green Giant Costume

To make your own Jolly Green Giant costume, you first have to start wearing all green. Get a long sleeve shirt or and a pair of long pants both in kelly green, or go for the tights...go on, go for it. A turtle neck would be ideal to minimize how much you need to paint with the face paint if you're doing that, and if you're not, well, it'll give you more green coverage anyway.

Forrest Green Felt - By the yard

Make your own Green Giant costume by purchasing dark green felt by the yard. Use this to cut out the leaves for the costume.

Adult Green Giant Shoes

Often when people put together a Halloween costume, they forget or neglect the footwear. The shoes make the outfit!

Plus, once you have them, you can keep them for next year to go as Elf or Peter Pan.

Sprout Costumes

Sprout

In 1973, the Little Green Sprout joined the Jolly Green Giant in the advertisements, learning all he knows.

A Sprout costume is a great idea for any little boy. It pairs well with Dad's Jolly Green Giant costume, as well. Being easily recognizable, comfortable, and warm, Sprout is the perfect costume.

Got a baby?

With Dad dressed as the Jolly Green Giant, child dressed as Sprout, and a baby dressed as a pea pod, you've got a jolly Green Giant family!

The only question is....Is Mom willing to wear this?

You have to go for the tights. Otherwise you`re simply chickening out.

Many years ago, my mum became angry with my dad and tipped a full pot of green paint over his head. He was a huge man and he stood like the jolly green giant while the paint dripped and covered his whole body!
