How the Grinch Stole Christmas Gift Set

Updated on November 21, 2014

How to Create a Grinch Themed Christmas Gift Set

We grew up watching and re-watching the animated television version of Dr. Seuss' How the Grinch Stole Christmas every year when it appeared on television and, therefore, it is firmly embedded in our family's holiday culture. The story was first published in book form in 1957, nine years before the television special. When it was released, it was deemed by many to be overly commercial. However, since those early days it has endured and gone on to become a classic holiday story, even appearing in 2012 on the School Library Journal's list of Top 100 Picture Books.

While it is possible that we were familiar with the book when we were growing up, we remember visiting him every year at Christmastime via the MGM television special although we are certain that at least one of was not watching when the television special first aired in 1966.

Likely you all know the story of the mean one, a real monster, trying to take away Christmas from the people who live in Whoville. It is one of the few original television holiday specials that still appears on television every single year and is still beloved by many.

As a matter of fact, it is a big part of our pop culture, one that brings memories to many of us each year. It is so popular that we think putting together a How the Grinch Stole Christmas gift set is a brilliant gift idea for anyone with memories of the Grinch, who has just met the him or for who you want to introduce to him. On this page then please find our favorite picks for putting together a themed gift set.

We love the idea of adding a coffee mug. The one shown here is the Grinch at his most menacing. Once again an affordable add on that can be treasured and used every day!

If you're looking for something soft and adorable, you might want to consider the Grinch's dog, Max. He is shown below in plush form from Manhattan Toys. Or if you could choose the Grinch himself, as shown on the right, though it could be argued whether or not he is soft and adorable.

Finally, who could resist the black t-shirt shown below with which YOU become the Grinch? It is another practical and affordable choice that is perfect for the really BIG Grinch fan! Imagine how much fun wearing this t-shirt to that Christmas party would be!

Pack it all in a handsome and reusable bag, like the Grinch one shown below. This bag is strong and water resistant. It is meant for shopping but also makes the perfect gift bag for your gift set.
