My Pet Ghost ~ Spookily Cute!

Updated on March 3, 2014

My Pet Ghost In A Jar From Hallmark

Halloween is almost here, and the fun and adorable My Pet Ghost - Hallmark's popular ghost in a jar that debuted a few falls ago - is available for adoption right now on Amazon and eBay.

On this page I will share with you the story of how I came to adopt my own pet ghost and show you some pictures and videos.

I have read that one young pet ghost owner keeps his adopted ghost in his bedroom at night all year long "to scare off monsters." Do you need a monster-scaring addition to your home?

Halloween novelties don't often catch my attention, but these spookily adorable (adorably spooky?) little pet ghosts in a jar drew me mysteriously toward them in the store.

I picked up the nearest bottle, pushed on the top, and the bottle lit up with the delightful blue-white glowing presence of a pet ghost. It felt reminiscent of the magical feeling of fireflies in a jar.

Except this pet ghost talked. In addition, there were background sounds inside its little abode - quiet clanging, howling, moaning, and more - with audio quality worthy of Hallmark.

I was only in the store to buy sunglasses that day, but I decided I might have to return to purchase one of these Hallmark Halloween My Pet Ghosts.

My Pet Ghost - Three Ghosts, Three Personalities

My favorite by far is Genevieve Ruffles. How can you not love a pet ghost that says things like, "I LOVE being a girly ghoul!"? Genevieve stole my heart. I adopted her and took her home.

Maxwell McSpooky wears spectacles and says "Now, where did I put that spectral analyzer?" and other geeky things, as you hear test tubes crashing and breaking in the background.

Julian Hijinks wails and moans and says "Boo!" He is the spookiest of the three.

Amazon only shows a photo of Genevieve - click here for large photo of all three pet ghosts!

I came across another Squidoo lens about these pet ghosts last year, and I immediately decided to get one (or possibly all 3). I'm a big kid but I like ghosts, so I just couldn't resist :) I checked the prices online but they were quite high as it was pretty close to Halloween. So I went to a couple of local Hallmark stores, but they were out of stock and wouldn't be getting any more. So I had no choice but to go back online. Only Genevieve Ruffles was available on Amazon to purchase individually; the other option was to buy all 3 at a ridiculously high price. So I adopted Genevieve and I'm quite happy with her although Julian Hijinks is actually my favorite as I like spooky stuff. I might still get him this year to keep Genevieve company :) I love that you displayed Genevieve in June!
