Halloween Cookie Treats
Halloween Cookies Are Sweet Treats
Halloween cookies dipped in chocolate, rolled in sprinkles, garnished with Halloween candy and made with loving straight from......no oven! My chocolate dipped cookies are known far and wide, well in my little part of the world anyway and everyone is always asking when I might be making some more.
So from a little package of cookies comes big surprises every single holiday. Halloween holiday cookies are so fun because you get to blend the favors and cookie treats you love with the awesome colors of Fall. Orange and black sprinkles. Candy corn decorations. Serve them in a fun theme Halloween or autumn leaves bowl, wrap them in a bag with a cute little ribbon, pop them on a lollipop stick to make a party centerpiece and I promise monsters of all ages will be talking about your trick or treat sweets!
They are easy for even the busiest people on the go, they can be glamorous, chic or just wickedly fun for family and friends.
Treats For Your Sweet Tooth
Halloween is all about the candy whether you are having a costume party, trick or treating with the kids, bringing in snacks for parties at school or just want to celebrate with family and friends. Sometimes the biggest decision is how much of that candy corn, chocolate, cookies, cake, cupcakes you can actually eat because it is all so tempting. Why choose!
Have it all in one great super cookie delight. Load your cookie with chocolate, garnish with candies and sprinkles and enjoy it all every bite you take. Everyone pictures Halloween full of scary monster, ghosts and screams but me, I say Happy Halloween with the beauty of chocolate!
Halloween Cookies Go Crazy
I firmly believe in good nutrition. I believe in working out and teaching children and adults the value of eating great foods. But I also believe that sometimes you have to go crazy and enjoy chocolates and cookies and all the fun rolled into holidays and Halloween is just made for going candy crazy!
It's a lot easier to eat really well the rest of the time when you know you can make some fun choices now and then. Can you ever have too many sweets? Absolutely you can overdose on this stuff because let's face it, it's yummy!
Chocolate, Chocolate and Chocolate!
Chocolate. Everyone loves chocolate. Some like it in big giant candy bars and some love it mixed with other favorite flavors like peanut butter and chocolate, coconut and chocolate, chocolates with nuts and chocolate cakes.
My chocolate dipped oreo cookies are the ultimate chocolate dipped treat. For Halloween you can get dip in milk chocolate, orange and purple and brown and purple chocolate to get that holiday theme really flowing while keeping the yum, delicious flavor of chocolate.
Chocolate Melt Down
Chocolate is the key for dipping success and you can do it gourmet, do it easy or do it in a chocolate warmer, fondue pot, double boiler or even your microwave.
You really don't have to be a chocolate baking expert to melt chocolates for your dipped cookies. It's easy just do it slow so the chocolate doesn't burn or scorch.
Halloween Sprinkled With Love
Halloween sprinkles combo pack of jimmies, confettis and holiday theme treats. Colors are great for Thanksgiving too if there is any left over!
I love, love sprinkles. I love them on my ice cream. I love them on my cookies and cakes and definitely on my cupcakes. I think everything looks more delicious with candy sugar sprinkles and holiday treats topped with holiday theme sprinkles is the best ever.
Sprinkles and sugar candies for Halloween are in every store, available online and so cute! Some of my favorites are the autumn colors like orange and black jimmies or sprinkles, colorful sugars and cute confetti dots to add just a touch of love to your Halloween treats.

Go Shopping Before You Make Your Cookies
Be prepared! Get your ingredients before you start dipping your cookies. Just like any great recipe you don't want to be missing even one ingredient when planning your strategy.
Shopping for ingredients doesn't have to be expensive either. Stock up on cookies on sale. Pick them up in bulk online at Amazon or check the Target circulars for specials. Chocolate Melts are easy to find in party stores, at Amazon in bulk and in small size bags. Walmart carries chocolate melts and craft stores will have them also. Check all those same places for everything from black and orange sprinkles, candy corn (yum) and sugar pumpkins.
Your family will be amazed at all the great Halloween party bowls, candy dishes and cookie serving platters you can find at the Dollar Stores too, those are great places to pick up holiday theme entertaining fun at terrific prices. Check out my little helper ready to empty all the bags and start dipping our cookies! OK, he just wants to play in the bags but is great company anyway.
Prepare Your Halloween Dipping Spot
It's a really great idea to prepare your area and your treats before you get started. I get the fondue chocolate melter out and ready on the counter, pour the chocolates right in there. Get out a bunch of bowls. I love bowls!
Microwave safe bowls for chocolate candies. One for each color to keep them separated. Pour the candies the bowls so they are ready to get melted. You can hold off melting each color until you are ready to use it.
Bowls for sprinkles, sugar dust, chopped up candy corn and sugar toppings should all be readied in their own bowl. Decide which bowl by how much you will have in there and leave room to press your chocolate dipped cookie in there without it knocking everything out of the bowl.
OK, ready set let's start melting and dipping!
My Chocolate Melting Pot
My large chocolate melting pot is actually a fondue pot that came with the fun set of skewers, the on and off has a warmer and heat control settings and wasn't expensive at all. It is perfect for melting chocolate for dipping your cookies in.
Usually I use this for melting whichever color chocolate I am going to use the most. And then I melt the rest of the chocolate whether it is white, purple or orange chocolate in microwavable bowls which is really really easy too.
Using the fondue pot is so incredibly easy. Just put the chocolates in the pot and turn it on. Honestly, I just start at warm and once the candies start melting start stirring. It won't take long until your chocolate is smooth and creamy and ready for dipping. I even turn it off now. I don't want the chocolate to burn and what's really great is, if the chocolate starts to harden, just turn the setting back to Warm again for a few seconds and voila, it's smooth and ready to dip again. I use a rubber spatula to stir my chocolate.
To melt chocolate in the microwave, always use microwave safe bowls. Melt the chocolate slowly. I can't really give you a definite amount of time because all microwaves cook a little differently and it depends on how thick your bowl is, how many candy chocolates are in the bowl, etc. So my very best first advice is go slow! Be patient. I put about two handfuls of candy melts in a bowl and start at about 45 seconds on high in the microwave. I pull the bowl out and mix, mix the chocolate. It it isn't smooth and creamy yet, pop it back in for about 20 seconds and then stir, stir again. Remember that the bowl will retain the heat from the candy and as you stir the candy will still be melting and smoothing so give it a chance before you pop it back in the microwave.
Dip It Here, Sprinkle It There
Dip your chocolate on one side or the other. Dipping just the edges all the way around the cookie allows you a melty area of chocolate for your sprinkles to hold onto. Where ever you put the chocolate, you can dip it in sprinkles. Or sprinkle sugar dust, mini M&M's, pieces of candy, sugar bats and pumpkins and skulls wherever you want them. My favorite is dipping one half of the oreo in chocolate then dipping that in sprinkles. That leaves you a handle of plain cookie to hold onto until every last bite is gone!
Or take your cookie one side down and just dip that side in chocolate and decorate, decorate! If you want to use more than one color in different areas melt it, dip it or even use a new, clean kids paintbrush to decorate.
We have dipped our cookies, sprinkled and decorated and now they need to sit in the fridge for a little while. As you dip each one and finish it's decorations place on the wax paper lined cookie sheet. Leave a little room in between just so the chocolate doesn't dry together but not too much room is needed. When the cookie sheet is full, pop it in the fridge for oh, maybe 15 minutes and your chocolate will be set and dry and holding to those sprinkles until you are ready to eat them.
Halloween Serving and Entertaining
Now the fun has just begun. You get to take your beautiful, yummy Halloween Chocolate Dipped Cookies and serve them in ghostly, funny, adorable or glamorous style. Whether the cookies are for your costume party, school parade, friends or just family how much fun is it to celebrate with candy corn bowls, pumpkin shaped trays or holiday fall shaped leaves.
Chocolate Dipped Oreo Stars
The star of the show for my Halloween chocolate dipped cookies is without a doubt, Oreo Cookies! You definitely can use any of your favorite cookie or bake your own but for me, it's always O-R-E-O Oreos.
I personally choose to use double stuffed oreos because, well why not have more of the creamy white sweet delicious oreo filling along with chocolate and sprinkles. But all oreos make this recipe just the right combination of everything you will love in every mouthful.
Another great Oreo to choose for Halloween cookies are the mint creme filled cookies. Yum not only do you get the taste of chocolate, mint and creamy goodness but they look great with their green theme fillings.
But again, why have to make a hard choice. I say buy them all. Even more fun than choosing your favorite to dip and serve, why not choose everyone's favorites and make them all.
Oreos Any Way You Want Them
Did you know there were so many flavors of Oreos! How many of the special holiday and season theme cookies do you know of and don't you think anything dipped in chocolate is even a little better.

Halloween Pumpkin Patch Cookie Pops
A bonus fun idea is to make cookie pops out of your chocolate dipped oreos. Dip and decorate your cookie anyway you love it and then push the lollipop stick in the middle of the chocolate area into the white creme stuffing. Then place on the tray and let it set in the fridge. Fun for kids to hold without getting the chocolate mess and so fun to place into ceramic pumpkin bowls.
I placed a couple of rice krispies bars into the bottom of the bowl first and then pushed the already chilled cookie pops into the krispies bars (sort of like food engineering for decorating) then garnished over with candy corn, mini marshmallows, reese's peanut butter M&M's and sprinkles of orange dust and jimmies.
The daddy of Oreo, or maybe the mummy of Oreo. Either way the classic Oreo is a tasty chocolatey sandwich biscuit filled with a creamy vanilla flavour centre.
We say everyone loves Oreos, but which one is your favorite. If you were stranded on a desert island and the only food was an oreo tree (okay I made that up) what kind of oreos would you want them to be?
