decorating gel, food color or spray
Beat together butter, sugar, egg and extracts. Add in dry ingredients. Refrigerate half an hour.
Roll into finger shaped cookies, using about 1 heaping teaspoonful of dough for each finger. Press almond into end for nail. Squeeze to form knuckles in center and just under nail. Slash little lines to make knuckles realistic.
Bake at 325 for 25 minutes. Decorate with gel "blood".
Meringue Bones from the Grave
4 dozen bones
3 large egg whites
1/4 tsp cream of tartar
1/8 tsp salt
2/3 c sugar
1/2 tsp vanilla
Heat oven to 200 degrees. Beat egg whites, cream of tartar and salt until fluffy. Gradually beat in sugar and vanilla. Using a pastry piper, pipe out "bones" by making about a three-inch strip with two pushed "buttons" on each end to resemble bones. Bake 1 hour until set. Turn oven off and without opening oven door, let meringues dry at least an hour or overnight.
Fill a bowl with Oreo cookie crumb "dirt" and protruding bones.

Hand in the Punch
Make an ice hand by filling a bakers' glove with water or Koolaid. You can use non-powdered, non-latex surgical gloves also, or you can buy a hand mold. If you use the gloves, tie a knot in the wrist end or use tightly wound rubber bands to prevent leaking. Lay the hand flat on a baking sheet in the freezer. Photo credit: blogniako
