Creepy Halloween Party Food

Updated on September 23, 2013

Creepiest Halloween Party Food & Ideas

Halloween Parties today are creepier than ever! If you're planning a spooky gathering this year, be sure to treat your guests to food that's both disgusting and delicious. Serve up creepy brains, eyeball punch, witches fingers and moldy cheese. Let your imagine run wild, but don't be surprised if you have lots of leftovers. Here are some ideas to get you started on your creepiest, scariest Halloween party ever.

Inspiration for these yummy spider eggs: Sunset.

Monster Toes

Um, tasty monster toes. Easy to make just by looking at the photo, but if you want the full story: blogniako.

The Halloween Jello Brain Mold

Lots of different foods can be made into "brains" in this mold. Try macaroni or potato salad, with olives, mushrooms or food spray to add to the spooky reality. How about spaghetti and meat sauce?

Brain Jello Salad

Simply prepare Peach Jello in the Brain Jello Mold.

Brain Shrimp Spread (use Jello Brain Mold)

1 can Cream of Mushroom Soup

8 oz. cream cheese

1 envelope unflavored gelatin softened in 1/4 c water

1 bunch chopped green onions

3 pounds cooked shrimp, chopped (or tuna, salmon, crab, etc.)

1 c mayonnaise

1 T lemon juice

spicy seasoning to taste

Heat soup (do not dilute). Mix in cream cheese and softened gelatin. Add remaining ingredients and pour into mild. Chill until firm and serve on tray with crackers, bread. Can be colored or sprayed with food coloring, or decorated with chopped olives, etc.

Recipe for Halloween Eyeball Appetizers

3 oz lemon Jello

1 cup hot water

1/2 cup miniature marshmallows

1 cup pineapple Juice

8 oz cream cheese

1 cup mayonnaise

Dissolve Jello in water. Add marshmallows and stir until melted. Turn off heat and beat in pineapple juice and cream cheese until well mixed. Add mayonnaise. Pour into round molds (candy molds or ice cube trays). Decorate with food coloring by painting or dipping just the tips and then painting on details.

Can of Worms

These delightful creatures are made with Jello and drinking straws. Complete directions:

Ghostly Rice Balls

These look eerily delicious, especially if something yummy is hiding inside, like smoked salmon or yakitori chicken!

Use Food Color Spray to Make Creepy Food

Food color spray can make cheese cubes or any other food "moldy"!

Halloween Food Color Spray Makes it Authentically Creepy!

Food color spray makes decorating creepy food easy.

Bride of Frankenstein

This one makes me laugh and creeps me out at the same time. This is a Bride of Frankenstein Cake, but there could be anything inside there, like meatloaf frosted and decorated with mashed potatoes. This could go in so many directions. Instructions for the cake: howstuffworks

Creepy Crunchy Witches Fingers

Makes 5 dozen fingers

1 c butter

1 c powdered sugar

1 egg

1 tsp almond extract

1 tsp vanilla

2 2/3 c flour

1 tsp baking powder

1 tsp salt

3/4 whole almonds

decorating gel, food color or spray

Beat together butter, sugar, egg and extracts. Add in dry ingredients. Refrigerate half an hour.

Roll into finger shaped cookies, using about 1 heaping teaspoonful of dough for each finger. Press almond into end for nail. Squeeze to form knuckles in center and just under nail. Slash little lines to make knuckles realistic.

Bake at 325 for 25 minutes. Decorate with gel "blood".

Meringue Bones from the Grave

4 dozen bones

3 large egg whites

1/4 tsp cream of tartar

1/8 tsp salt

2/3 c sugar

1/2 tsp vanilla

Heat oven to 200 degrees. Beat egg whites, cream of tartar and salt until fluffy. Gradually beat in sugar and vanilla. Using a pastry piper, pipe out "bones" by making about a three-inch strip with two pushed "buttons" on each end to resemble bones. Bake 1 hour until set. Turn oven off and without opening oven door, let meringues dry at least an hour or overnight.

Fill a bowl with Oreo cookie crumb "dirt" and protruding bones.

Hand in the Punch

Make an ice hand by filling a bakers' glove with water or Koolaid. You can use non-powdered, non-latex surgical gloves also, or you can buy a hand mold. If you use the gloves, tie a knot in the wrist end or use tightly wound rubber bands to prevent leaking. Lay the hand flat on a baking sheet in the freezer. Photo credit: blogniako

great idea to get healthy food across for a kids party - the brain jello looks very convincing. Make sure you capture any frightening moments forever with photos in picture frames. One more suggesion - if you have trick or treaters - cook pasta, mix it with food dye and a touch of cooking oil to add slimey effect - place sweets within the pasta (obviously sweetie bags work best here and not loose sweets)
