Halloween Party By Firefighters
Welcome To The Halloween Party!
The Halloween Party at the firehouse is all about Firefighters celebrating Halloween with all the members of their community. Welcoming babies, kids of all ages and their grown ups to an unbelievable few hours packed with costumes, candy, hot dogs and fire truck rides.
It's a day of DJ music rock and roll thriller songs and party games. The fire house is filled with orange and black balloons, children in costumes, adults meeting up with friends and family, a real coming together of community leaders, neighbors and firefighters.
Over 500 people attend this Halloween Party every year. And it's free. It's Open House Welcome. And the firefighters and our sponsors are what makes it happen.
I cannot tell you how proud I am to be part of this amazing community Halloween Party for the last 19 years. Welcome, let me introduce you to the big event.
The Fire Station gets crowded packed with more than 500 adults, children and babies sharing snacks, meeting friends and dancing the Monster Mash, playing Limbo, showing off their moves for the DJ and swirl, prance and enjoy their Halloween costumes.
Don't worry though, there is plenty of room for everyone. Usually the area houses our two fire engines, a quint fire truck and an aerial tower, utility and tons of equipment that was put away for the day for safety's sake.
The firehouse has been opening it's big doors and inviting the community to party with us on Halloween since 1995.It was our way to say Thank You to the community by spending some time with our local children and setting aside donations, emergencies and fires (hopefully!) and our residents everyday busy lives by inviting them over for some free party fun. It was a success from the very first party!
Chief Barry Rashkin has made sure this community tradition is still success today and is able to do it every Halloween with the backing of his Fire Dept who get involved from contacting sponsors for donations, printing up fliers, shopping for the big event, cleaning and cleaning and did I mention cleaning the firehouse, decorating and finally on the big day, being there to serve over 600 people a year hot dogs, candy, cookies, popcorn, dancing with the DJ, fire truck rides and treats for everyone who attends.
We not only volunteer to fight fires, attend training courses, rescue cats from trees, put new batteries in smoke detectors, we also step forward and volunteer to make sure a couple of hours before Halloween are free, fun and safe for our community friends and families. For some children, this is the only Halloween Party they will ever get to attend. Families in our community on a tight financial budget know it's not easy to come up with admission fees for parties and our party is always free.
The party is a great alternative for families who do not want their children to go Trick or Treating. It's a great way for the whole family to spend some time at a party getting to know their firefighters, enjoying the music and dancing, free treats and drinks and goodies and enjoy a family fire truck ride too.
Halloween Candy Favorites
Halloween candy is a hit at every party including our firehouse party where we buy candy in bulk size bags and packages. All the money for the candy and cookies, hot dogs, popcorn and everything is donated by local businesses who really care about the kids in our community. More than a few dollars come out of my own pocket when there aren't any donations left, but it's worth every penny for our party.
The Magic Of Children
Halloween magic is nothing compared to the amazing, incredible magical children that come to party with us. They are princesses, pirates, soldiers and ladybugs. East Windsor Fire #2 transforms into a magical world of teddy bears and monsters, elephants and fairies.
The children are the twinkling stars of the party shining awe, happiness and joy that is the true treat for us to share. They dance with their friends, share cookies with their family and smile like the sunshine when the fire truck rolls in for their turn on board.

Some of our firefighters and fire dept leaders look young in years but they are old and wise in experience. Not just on fire calls but years of Halloween Planning experience.
Cindy our photographer has more years of Halloween party event planning experience and know how than anyone else in the firehouse. Involved in everything from budgeting, finances and signing on sponsors, to choreographing sign ups and coordinating truck rides and making sure advertising print fliers are picked up, hung up and handed out.
It's amazing how much is involved and how many details there are but thanks to Cindy, every party is even more successful than the last one.
DJ Rock Stars and Sparky the Fire Dog - Sparky The Party Animal Fire Dude
Thank goodness the DJ lucks out every year and Sparky the Fire Dog jumps in to help them rock the party out. Sparky loves dancing and really gets the kids hop, skip and jumping to the beat.
When he isn't helping the DJ up at the microphone he is dancing around the floor with grown ups and children and has been known to get our VIP's twirling along with him.
Firefighter Sparky our dalmatian is quite the Party Animal!

Fire Chief Barry Rashkin has commanded dozens of large scale fire scenes, handled emergencies and motor vehicle accidents, brush and vehicle fires involving dozens of firefighters and resources involving fire depts from three local counties surrounding us and holds advanced certification training in Incident Command.
But try coordinating command and control over not only dozens of firefighters but hundreds of children and adults and that's when the party really begins. Thanks to the Chiefs throughout the years for being involved in the Halloween party from the planning and coordination of events, preparation of the fire apparatus and the fire station and for keeping the party safe and awesome!

Fire Chief Barry Rashkin has been an avid supporter of the annual Halloween Party and has kept the tradition alive, the firefighters enthusiastic and works as hard as everyone else if not harder to get the donations, clean up the building and make sure that everyone at the Halloween Party is having the best time ever.
We are lucky to have a Chief so involved in all aspects of our community
Twin Rivers Community Trust Association
Although we are located and serve the entire Eastern portion of East Windsor Township in NJ, our fire station is located in a wonderful community called Twin Rivers. The Twin Rivers Homeowners Association has been the Fire Company's friend and partnered with us making sure every year the Halloween Party is truly a success for every boy and girl.
They sponsor us in so many ways and stand right there with us as we serve hot dogs, blow up balloons and greet visitors from far and wide.
Thank You To Our Friends and Associates at Twin Rivers. We truly couldn't do it without you.
K & S Farms East Windsor, NJ - Field Of Terror Thank You Sharon and Kevin!
Sharon and Kevin Kyle of K & S Farms has been one of our biggest supporters and that's totally fitting for a Halloween Party because they are the Masters of the biggest, scariest Field Of Terror haunted hayride, corn maze and haunted house open every October in East Windsor, NJ. In fact the 2011 East Windsor Fire House Halloween Party never would have happened if it wasn't for Sharon and Kevin!
By day they are family fun Halloween hay rides:
But at night starting in September and continuing through the end of October, prepare for zombies, monsters, screams and even fireworks!
ShopRite East Windsor, NJ
ShopRite of East Windsor and Manager Michael McDonald has provided 100's and 100's and hundreds of hot dogs and buns over the years for the East Windsor Volunteer Fire Company #2 Halloween Party.
We can never thank them enough for their delicious support of this unbelievable community event!
WAWA East Windsor, NJ
Thank you WAWA for donating thousands of juice boxes and drinks over the years to our Halloween Party!
Halloween Party Sponsors
Thank You Thank You Thank You!!!
We seriously could not hold the Halloween Party without our sponsors. Because we are a 100% volunteer fire dept we do ask our community residents to donate through the year with boot drives, fund drive mailings and special evens to help us raise money for firefighter gear, boots, equipment and money that goes solely to the needs of the fire dept. No money that is raised ever goes to our firefighters personally. We do not use any of the funds to throw parties or pay administrators. All fund drive money is used only for equipment and training.
For our Halloween Party we ask our sponsors to support this community wide event so that the kids can come and enjoy a safe and fun Halloween event at the fire station. All donations for this event go towards cookies and candy. We have to pay the DJ who always gives us a nice break because it's really all about the kids. And our sponsors come through in many different ways.
Some donate money so that we can pay for the goodies and extras. Some donate goods and that really helps. We have gotten donations of brand new beautiful stuffed animals to give out to every child, our local 7-11 donates the ketchup and mustard and napkins and cups, ShopRite always donates the hot dogs and buns, WaWa helps us out with hundreds of drink boxes for the kids. K&S Farms donation to us one year is the only reason we could move ahead with the party because things were just so financially tight we couldn't have done it without them and their support. The Twin Rivers Community Association has been supporters in every way helping us fund events, donating their time and energy and helping us advertise the big day too.
To be honest, even though every one of our firefighters and members are volunteer and never receive any pay, many years we have taken money out of our own pockets personally to ensure we have had enough of what we need every year.
Thank you for the pumpkins and the corn stalks and the Fall mums. Thank you for your gracious support from all of the firefighters and all of the children!
Halloween Party By East Windsor Firefighters October 2012
This year's Halloween Party has been announced and our firefighters are already busy getting ready for the party. This year we even have a Facebook page, donations of hot dogs and buns, juice boxes for the kids and generous donation that allowed us to book the DJ have all come in.
K&S Farms will be donating the pumpkins, corn stalks and autumn mums so the spirit of the season will be in full bloom at East Windsor Fire #2.
