Halloween Game Fun--Easy Ideas and Tips

Cool Party Games

Bobbin' for apples was fun in it's time, but it's now time to bring some new life to the party, your Halloween party. No game, however, can ever replace the sacred scavenger hunt. Remember those? My Mom used to have scavenger hunts in the house, which was a blast. She started those because it was pouring rain one Halloween night and there was no way she was trekking us little kids out in that!

Here's a few other Halloween party game ideas:

For the kids:

Halloween word game---have the children write down the word Halloween. In a specific time frame, see who can make the most words out of Halloween. (short time of five minutes is best) You can also play this with "Trick or Treat".

Eyeball Run---pre paint a few ping pong balls (or small styrofoam balls) as eyeballs. Create two teams, each player will carry their eyeball on a spoon up and down the course and bring the spoon/ball to the next player. First team to finish wins.

Easy Guess......Fill jars with candy; allow the kids to put their guess down as to how much candy is in the jar.

Halloween Bingo---Play bingo with Halloween candy (rolos, m&m's, sweetharts, etc) rather than the usual bingo pieces.

Not so scary scavenger hunt....write down a series of clues that will lead the kids place to place in the house to a final Halloween treasure. For fun, use ghost, cat, or pumpkin cut-outs to write the clues on!

Teens love this one!

Icey Marbles! - Fill a large bowl with marbles and ice! One player at a time puts his or her feet in and attempts to pick up as many marbles as he can, in one minute, using only his toes! Marbles are placed, via the toes, onto a plate located beside the bowl. Count each player's successfully transferred marbles. The player who is able to transfer the most in one minute, wins the game! My son and some of his friends play this every year at their annual Halloween Party! It's their favorite Halloween game! Burrrr....sounds cold to me!

Other fun game ideas will be listed below for children, teens and adults!

Tomb of Doom

Can you unlock the treasure chest with one of the 8 magical keys? Give it a try, but beware: If you pick the wrong one, the skull burst into motion, with eyes that wobble, teeth that grind, and a scary shrieking sound!

Of course, before you can even try to unlock the treasure chest, you must complete a series of challenges!

I Spy Spooky Night Game

This Halloween game comes with 9 riddle cards and 36 picture cards. Reading is not required, and there are multiple ways to play!

Great Pumpkin Charlie Brown Board Game - The Peanuts Gang: Charlie Brown, Lucy, Sally, and Snoopy

Be the first Peanuts character to share your candy with Linus and win the game!

Ghost Bowling! - Cool Halloween Party Game

Check out the Ghost Bowling party game idea as well as the Build A Scarecrow Race in the video below! Both of these look like a lot of fun for a Halloween Party!

The Ghost Bowling game is a homemade bowling game where the bowling pins look like ghosts.

The Build a Scarecrow Race allows kids to compete in teams to decorate a simple scarecrow frame with old clothes or clothes purchased from a thrift shop. The kids can get creative and have a great time decorating their scarecrows!

I haven't ever had a Halloween party - it might be time! Very good lens - and it got a blessing. Let me tell you one thing that particularly impressed me - the year is in the title but not the url. That means this year it can be updated for 2013 and still be timely. Tricky, tricky - but reading your lens is a treat!

One of our favorites is Mummy Wrap. Make up teams of two - a wrapper and the mummy. The wrappers use toilet tissue to wrap their mummy. The team that finishes wrapping their mummy first (from feet to head) wins. It's harder than it sounds! And, LOTS of fun!!

Though it's not the most sanitary of Halloween games, I remember loving bobbing for apples when I was a teen. My senior year, my English teacher gave bonus points based on how many apples and how quickly we could get the apples. Let's just say my shirt got a little wet. I wanted to win!
