Halloween Skulls and Hearts

Updated on October 25, 2018

Halloween is just a bit of modern fun, imported from USA, and that's how I see it when I write my ghostly pages with horror photos & poems

Here's a Whole Page of Hearts and Skulls for Halloween

On this page you'll find a great selection of Gothic style hearts to indicate love, and skulls to symbolize death and the hereafter -- including Cards, Jewelry, and Artwork.

Skulls are cool this season. Put them with romantic hearts and you have weird and wild tongue-in-cheek symbolism, loving you to death.

My Little Skeleton in the Cupboard

Many years ago, I used to carry round a cute little skeleton swinging from a key-ring. I loved it and took it everywhere. In those days, Goth fashion had not been invented and I'm sure people must have thought I was weird.

Being thought of as weird or ghoulish was not a problem, as I have never minded being a bit different and standing out from the crowd. I suppose that's why I like acting, and have even tried stand-up comedy - attracting attention is in my make up, and if you haven't quite achieved perfect looks, there are still other ways of being noticed. I would be a bit sad if I was now thought of as run-of-the-mill or normal. I don't make a point of being an individualist, but I do believe in being myself, rather than conforming to what other people think I should be.

Halloween Skulls Combined With Halloween Hearts Signify "Eternal Love"

There are a surprisingly large number of English expressions which refer to both love and death in the same breath. I suppose it's because they are both life-changing events or circumstances, and symbolism is part of our cultural heritage.

Here are some somewhat ghoulish sentiments:

- "I will love you till I die"

- "My love for you will endure beyond life itself"

- "In the midst of love and life, we are in death"

- "Death comes to everyone, Love just to the fortunate"

- "I love you to death"

- "Eternal love"

- "I die in your arms every time we're together"

- "I'm dying for a kiss"

There are probably a lot more ways of expressing love forever - if you think of any, do add them in the comments section below.

Below is A Romantic Skull - at least, I think it's romantic - but it's certainly a grinning skull with a romantic heart perched on its head!

I think Ed Hardy is a brilliant artist, within his own genre, and I love his stuff. You can find quite a lot of it on the internet.

The ring actually has a similar design to the poster, with a skull topped by a heart

What do Halloween Skulls and Hearts Mean to You?

- Sick?

- Weird?

- Fun?

- Scary?

- Silly?

Quite honestly, I think Halloween is so daft that, to me at least, it's meaningless, but I know lots of people do feel a little shudder at the thought, and so skulls and hearts are part of the excitement generated by this traditional superstitious wonderland.

Nonetheless, I must confess that I do buy a large quantity of little Halloween-styled sweets, so that when children come knocking at my door to "trick or treat", they don't go away disappointed.

You Would Be Very Scared Indeed If This Fearsome Ghost Crept Up On You In The Middle Of The Night, Wouldn't You?

But there would be nobody to rescue you, and you would have to entertain your companion until first light of dawn, whereupon he would vanish into the ether.

Of course it could just be a figment of your imagination after you were celebrating a bit too vigorously with alcohol or halucinogenic substances.

Also I happen to know that if I show you a dish of cat food, you'll abandon your horrible old witch and come winding yourself round my ankles, scrounging for grub!

That's what cats are like, you see

What's on your mind?

Would you wear heart and skull T-shirts, or something more subtle like skull jewelry?

Or do you think that's for the youngsters, for another generation, or even that skulls and hearts are more appropriate for aliens?

If you only have something curmudgeonly to say, you can say it here, 'cos this page is celebrating weirdos, goths and, of course, curmudgeons (look it up if you don't know what it means!)
