Halloween Village Display To Die For
Create your very own Halloween village display
A Halloween village display can certainly turn a regular room or area in your house into an eerie haunted lair, and it will be a wonderful way to entertain your guest this Halloween.
Of course, you can always decorate your home with run-of-the-mill Halloween decorations, but why not take the Halloween decorating idea to the next level this year and create something that you and your family can treasure for years to come?
Besides, you can add pieces to the spooky village as time goes on or your budget permits so that the display set will keep on growing or improving every year. Sounds like a great idea?
Now let's explore a few of the things you can start collecting to build your very own Halloween town or village.
Halloween village display ideas - Get your creative juices flowing
First, let's think about what Halloween is or what it's associated with to help the ideas flow easily. In the northern hemisphere Halloween is an autumn holiday, so it's naturally associated with harvest, fruits like pumpkins and apples, birds like ravens or crows, and leaves changing colors.
So you can probably start with a Halloween tree or two either ready-made or one that you decorate yourself. Not all the trees need to be decorated, though. There can be a few bare ones as they also add to the eerie scene.
Then you can add some hay bales, hay stacks, a fruit cart or bucket, scarecrows, and black birds.

Halloween village witch - Cast magic on your village
Halloween is also a Pagan holiday and is associated with witches. So, you may want to have a witch holding a broom or stirring a cauldron in your village. Just a few days ago I bought an ornament of a cute little witch with a black cat in her arms.
This is a hand-crafted figurine of Hilda the witch putting a spell on the broom, infusing it with magick. Measures 3.2 x 1.4 x 2.2 inches; weighs 2.9 ounces.

What comes to mind next when you think of Halloween? OK, I hear you... ghost, goblins, vampires, and other creepy creatures. But that's the easy part as you can find those just about anywhere and you can buy them any time. So, as much as you and I like them, we won't spend that much time on those accessories here.
Remember, we're building a Halloween village or town. So think about what you usually find in a village or town and then make them spooky. A few houses, stores or a market, a post office, an inn, a train station, and yes, a cemetery!
Halloween village accessories
The other day I was shopping in a craft store and saw a great Halloween village display set consisting of a haunted house, spooky candy and ice cream shops, and a couple of scary rides among other things.
There were also a few individual pieces like skeletons, black cats, cauldron, and tomb stones.
I was quite impressed and thought it would be a cool idea to create my own Halloween town.

Design your Halloween village
You can tailor the display to your own taste. For example, some people like cars, trains, or certain animals like horses. The idea is to make everything look spooky.
You can, for instance, purchase a ready-made ghost train or place a normal looking train piece and make the surrounding spooky by using dim lighting or adding ghostly sound effects.
If you like the nautical theme, you can create a seaside Halloween village with a ghost or pirate ship and other nautical items.
Themed Halloween village
If you wish you can also build a themed Halloween village. I personally like the Legend of Sleepy Hollow and the Headless Horseman, so I could create a village with that theme using the following accessories.
