Halo Birthday Party Ideas
When it comes to a Halo party, you might be surprised at the lack of premade decorations, favors and general Halo party supplies. Despite being a very popular game, there is not a lot of licensed supplies available. Therefore you get to have the fun of creating your own Halo birthday party ideas and supplies. Don't worry though, it's not like you have to save the world or defeat the entire Halo series. You just have to understand enough about the game to create an event that everyone will remember, simple right?
Halo is a first person shooter video game (meaning you run around and shoot things) that features a war between humans and a race of very religious aliens. The aliens are known as the Covenant and they worship an ancient race known as the Forerunners who perished during a war against the Flood (parasitic aliens not water). If you are wondering where Halo comes from, it refers to the rings created by the Forerunners to destroy the Flood.Okay, now that you understand the game it's time to start the planning.
Halo Party Invitations
Halo invitations need to focus on the war and impending battle. One cool idea would be to have the invitations be a little like draft notice, where the party guests are being summoned to fight in the war to save humanity. You can either print or draw the Halo logo on the top of the invitation and let your wording do the rest of the talking. Let it be as serious as you want, while still letting the kids know the important information. "You are humanity's last hope against the Covenant. You are to report to (address) on (date) for your first mission: To celebrate (child's name)'s birthday."
You'll also find Halo themed invitations on ebay and Etsy which you can order for your party. The designs look really cool and the invites can be personalized with birthday details and your childs photo.
Halo Party Decorations
When it comes to decorations, there's not much in terms of balloons and banners, but never threat we can make a few improvisations to get the look we're looking for. unless you have grand plans to turn your home into a futuristic dystopian world, these ideas should be more than enough.
Although set in the future, the fact that the game still takes cues from today's army, means you can get away with camo. Plenty of camo, and anything army/military/weapon themed. So if this is the route you want to take you can start off with plenty of green, brown and black streamers and balloons.
Next thing to do is get whatever you can find that is camouflage, including table clothes and place settings and decorations. You can purchase a or you can get a little crazy and make your own. You just need to get a solid color of tablecloth (typically a green or brown) and then get paints and splatter then onto the table cloth. camouflage table cover
The other option is to go with a color theme of blue, grey and black (like the printable party pack featured below). These colors will suit the few halo decorations available and also is the same colors used for the Halo sign.Which ever colors you choose to use make sure to put them everywhere so your party room is dressed up well for the occasion.
Another simple idea for decorations that would lighten up the atmosphere is to print quotes from the game and hang them up. Some of the characters have funny quips or lines that they say, so this would be a great way for the kids to relive the fun of playing the game. A simple Google search will bring up plenty of quotes that you can use and you can even dress them up to look like warning posters or military posters.

Halo Party Food Ideas
The food isn't something that is easy to really fit into the game. However, if you are feeling daring you can go to a local army supply or surplus store and pick up some MREs (meal ready to eat) and use these on the snack table. They can be there as decoration and the kids can try it if they really want to go all out. The packaging looks like something right out of the game so it's the perfect addition. Thanks to Maddycakes Muse for this idea, her blog has tons of great ideas for a Halo party.
You can however, use One thrifty chicks idea of making your own MRE meal packs with cardboard boxes. She made her own MRE labels and offer them free as printables, she also offers some ideas about the foods she put into each meal pack like build your own sandwiches, candy bars, chips and more.

Halo Birthday Cake Ideas
The Halo birthday cake has to be a little special to showcase all the main elements of the game that gamers love so much. The number one factor, the cake that would have the birthday boy in awe is a cake themed around Master chief the main character used in the game. Elizabeth Marek of the Artisan Cake Company site made an awesome Halo Master Chief helmet Cake and has a step by step tutorial of how she did it.
If you have some Halo figures or vehicles around, your job just got a lot easier as you can use these as decorations to make a far simpler cake. From just baking a regular rectangle cake, frosting it with browns and greens to look like dirt you can use these toy vehicles and characters as cake toppers, and voila! A great cake. If you don't however, you can try to frost the cake blue and then use the halo logo in black. It is simple but looks great. Stephanie's Creative Confections has a great example of this, she even put her child's age inside the Halo logo.

Halo Party Games and Activities
As part of your activities you could have everyone play the multiplayer version of the latest Halo game - which is Halo 4. With a few snacks for them to nibble on while they play the game it will keep them entertained for hours.
For a more "get out and play" kind of party activity I would suggest playing Capture the flag. The aim of the game is that you have two teams, each who have a flag or marker of some sort (it could be something Halo related) which is held in their base. The other teams job is to capture their flag and bring it back to their base to they win.
Another fun game you could have them play is "Grenade toss" which involves throwing water balloons into bucket to see how good their aim is and whoever gets the most wins the game. The idea comes from birthday in a box and would be an enjoyable target practice game that kids can take turns at in pairs.
Planning a Halo party is no easy task but if nothing else you are now ready to battle aliens for the future of Earth...or at least be prepared for whatever crazy party you'll need to plan next!
