Funniest Holiday Movie of All Time - "Home For the Holidays"

Updated on September 10, 2014

My Favorite Holiday Movie - "Home For The Holidays," 1995

It didn't take me long to identify my favorite holiday movie. Robert Downey Jr. is an acting genius and this will not surprise you. I won't tell you what happens but this is a must-see! I highly recommend this one, rent it or get it from Amazon for a very low price.

Along with the movie review, I have added a little fun to this including a chance to add your own captions to the ol' family please kick back, pour a cup of Folgers and put in a cinnamon stick!

Home For the Holidays - With Holly Hunter and Robert Downey, Jr.

For all the dysfunctional holidays that you've ever had...

I think I saw this movie for the first time in 1995, the year it was released. I don't remember it playing at the theatre but I do remember that I really cracked up laughing the first time. It is one of those movies that you will remember and has a true ring to it. No special effects or flying warlocks or dashing vampires, just a down-home story that you must see. Holly Hunter and Robert Downey Jr. are brother and sister and play the parts well. If you ever doubted Downey's acting ability, you won't after seeing this. This is centered around Thanksgiving but you can relate it to any holiday that rolls around. I ended up buying it because I wanted to watch it every year during the holiday season. Enloy and I guarantee you will love it!

@favored: I have gotten a little soft and have started to like the Lifetime movies...I am tired of all of the reality shows and violence, etc. and I prefer the real stories.

We watch Miracle on 34th Street every Thanksgiving, but I don't have a favorite one for Christmas. We watch Christmas movies all year; we're too busy to watch them at Christmas :)
