How to Decorate a Halloween Table for a Kids Party

Updated on October 5, 2014

Ideas for Halloween Party

Halloween party table ideas including centerpieces, table clothes, serving pieces and more. I have some fun balloons including ones that light up, along with a cool hanging spider.

Want to make ghost napkins? I have instructions for you. In addition you can print out some free tombstone place cards. You'll find everything you need to help decorate for a great kid's party.

Start with a tablecloth. I would recommend orange or black to stick with a Halloween theme. Another idea is for a spider web tablecloth. That would give a bit more of a creepy effect. This is a great way to protect your table and make for an easy clean up.

I would also suggest to go with a plastic tablecloth. You can easily find paper ones, but if anything spills, it will seep through to your table. A plastic one will hold any spills and can easily be discarded after use.

I don't know about you, but spiders and spiderwebs really creep me out. If the kids attending the party are old enough not to get too scared, you might want to consider this tablecloth.

Halloween Centerpieces

Black Cauldron

It's quite common to serve your favorite punch at a Halloween party. Why not serve it in a cauldron and make it your table centerpiece?

It may be tempting to add dry ice to the cauldron to add to the effect, but in reality, it is not recommenced for kids. If you really feel the need for this, place the dry ice and follow the recommended instructions in the cauldron, but place a separate punch bowl inside for the beverage.

Otherwise, there are a lot of other centerpiece ideas. How about a bouquet of Halloween balloons? Another idea is for a bunch of carved Jack-o-Lanterns. There are also some cool ideas on Amazon. Check out some of these ideas below.

When it comes to kids parties, I highly recommend using paper and plastic products. There are so many fun Halloween paper plates and napkins to choose from, as well as paper or plastic cups.

These type of products help to avoid items breaking, as well as an easy clean up. The same applies for utensils. I would suggest some black plastic spoons and forks that continue with a Halloween theme.

Now, here's a cute napkin trick. Take a white square napkin and place a spoon in the middle of it. Puff it out a bit, then wrap a small rubber band around the base of the spoon. You have now created a ghost napkin. You can do the same thing with a black napkin as it will look like a vampire.

Halloween Balloons

I always love to use balloons at parties. For a table, they can make for a centerpiece or used at both ends of the table. You can also line them up in a row across the length of the table.

One thing I've always done is to be sure to have a balloon for each kid, so each of them can take one home. This year, there are some really great balloons available. You can check them out below.

You can keep things festive by using some Halloween serving pieces, If you want to go an inexpensive route, simply stop your local dollar type store and pick up some orange or black napkins and place them in your current platters and bowls.

You can see an example of this in the picture above. If you prefer actual pieces that are Halloween theme, there are lots of fun ones to choose from. I have some ideas for you below.

Even our kids' school got into the whole Halloween atmosphere but the best part was the one-room schoolhouse where the community put on a family party.

@PippiDust: I think for younger kids, it's best not to be too scary.
