Ideas For a Halloween Birthday Party

You should definitely consider throwing a Halloween birthday party if you or a loved one is lucky enough to have a birthday near the end of October.

Sweet and Scary Treats

It wouldn't be a Halloween birthday party without a Halloween-themed birthday cake. I'm no professional cake-maker, but I can bake cakes from a mix, and that's all it takes for a basic Halloween cake!

Ingredients

• Dark-brown cake, such as devil's food or dark chocolate, prepared according to mix instructions
• White frosting, such as vanilla or cream cheese
• orange food coloring
• black food coloring

1. Bake and cool your cake.
2. Divide frosting into three batches (one large, two small). Mix orange food coloring into large batch to achieve desired orange shade. Mix black food coloring into one of the small batches. Leave the third batch white.

3. Frost cake with orange food coloring.

4. Place black and white batches of frosting is plastic baggies and cut off the corner. Use black frosting to create bats and spiders. Use white frosting to create ghosts, mummies, and eyes on the black creatures.

5. Serve and enjoy!

It can be difficult to find Halloween-themed wrapping paper to wrap birthday gifts in. It's worth it to check your local party or Halloween stores; they might have something you can use. Alternately, you can always find attractive fabrics this time of year that can act as reusable gift wrap. Alternately, you can get some white, orange, or black wrapping paper and adorn your present with Halloween-themed stickers.

For the main course of your Halloween birthday party meal, why not try some pumpkin stew? The secret to this hearty vegetable, meat and bean stew is cooking it in a pumpkin for an hour before serving.

You can make an easy punch by mixing pineapple juice, orange sherbet, and ginger ale. Throw in some raspberries to create the look of blood. Other great Halloween birthday party drinks include:
