Katy Perry Roar Costume - Fancy Dress Like a Jungle Princess!
You've gonna hear me roar!
I've been a Katy Perry fans since she kissed a girl and she liked it and I do enjoy each and every of her new songs. The latest music vide Roar is great, I think it's a catchy tune and has a great message a lot of girls will be able to relate too. But it also has two pretty awesome dress styles that will make a fun look for Halloween.
There have been official releases of Katy Perry costumes in the past and there's a chance we'll be seeing an official release for Roar too but for now you'll have to settle for a DIY alternative. But fear not, I've put together two fun looks with all the clothing pieces and accessories you'll need as well as tips on how to perfect the look.
Photos used on this page are spinets taken from the music video.
The first look in Katy Parry's Roar Music Video
Straight out of the plane
While I do love this look as a costume I also love the style as an everyday wear (without the spiders that is). As a young business woman I really wouldn't mind showing in the office in these clothes (and boots, love those - so adventurous)
White shirt which has all the front details like the one in the music video and has a collar. You will have to ruff it up a bit by making a few tears here and there and smudge it with something brown to get the dirty effect (coffee).
Comes with a belt, how cool eh? This skirt isn't too expensive which will make tearing it apart a bit less painful. Cut the bottom part so it resembles the one Katy wears. To get the black edges use coal (you can get it in art stores).
Next we have my least favourite animal posing as the creepy decoration (or two) to put on your costume. Eeek!
Last but not least the boots! Although you see her using her high heels to make the spear in the later clips of the video when she's rocking this look she wears brown boots.
Queen of the Jungle! - I love this look!
I do find it funny that she is revealing so much, much more than many other "scandalous" music divas but she is keeping it very clean.
The top & the jungle skirt - Heroine of the jungle
Starting with the top you'll need something worthy of the cougar, well something with leopard print. The best tops come with expensive cave woman costumes but I've managed to a regular top that will get the job done.
You could also use this leaf skirt. It will need some shortening and the leaves are not exactly as in the music video but if you've got the right attitude you can pull it off.
A more realistic looking one (love this one) but a bit more expensive.
Watch the official music video! - Do you have the eye of the tiger? ;)
I think I've listened to this song more than 100 times now and it's one of my favourite tracks this year. It so easy to listen to, so light and so positive. Another reason I love it is because unlike many other songs of this year this one isn't obscene (have nothing about obscene videos and all but this year there are just to many of them)
Love the costumes in this video and love the story.
