Kermit the Frog Costumes

Updated on August 20, 2015

Kermit the Frog

When it comes to the numerous Muppet characters created by Jim Henson, there is one that stands above the rest, and that of course is Kermit the Frog.

Over the years Kermit developed into more of a straight man in the midst of a bunch of jokesters and flamboyant and odd characters, which has been a source of humor and delight for many fans.

Eventually he attracted the interest of Miss Piggy, which was, as with all potential and real relationships, and series of ups and downs for the poor frog. Miss Piggy, I'm sure, has a different take on the issue.

Being so popular, Kermit continues to be one of the favorites of fans to mimic by dressing up like him for Halloween and many other costuming and special events.

Of course Miss Piggy loves to be seen on the arm of her frog because of her romantic interest in him, so you will see her many times in costume, being escorted by her Kermit.

Children in Kermit the Frog Costumes

We'll start off with some of your favorite costumed characters: children. Add to that a Kermit the Frog costume and you definitely have a winner, as you see in the first two photos below.

Homemade Kermit costumes are very easy for children. All you need is a green outfit of some type, velcro, and a little extra cloth or fabric to finish it off with the collar and the eyes. It doesn't get any cuter than this for toddler costumes.

Kermit the Frog or Kermit the Dog?

Here we have a hilarious costume of Kermit the Frog worn by a dog. Not only does it look fantastic, but the choice of dog works well, as the wet eyes of the dog look similar to the eyes of the Kermit costume.

The dog looks like he is really enjoying the experience, with the eyes alert and his tongue hanging out. Very cute and funny.

Kermit and Miss Piggy Couples' Costumes

As we all know, there are many times Kermit the Frog and Miss Piggy have been inseparable, mostly by the choice or insistence of Miss Piggy herself.

That funny and interesting interaction between Kermit and Miss Piggy makes for great theater, and of course great costumes for couples.

These three different looks show how diverse the options are for dressing up as the frog and pig, with each one creating a humorous and compelling look.

For Kermit, all you have to do is get something that is or looks like a frog head, and just improvise with the rest of the outfit. As for Miss Piggy, her extravagance speaks for itself. Here are some Miss Piggy costumes to look at.

Walter Dressed as Kermit the Frog

The moment I saw this particular Kermit the Frog costume I burst out in laughter. How funny is it to have a costumed Character like Walter come dressed up as another cartoon character. Hilarious.

It did give me some fun ideas of doing the same. How cool would it be to dress up in a similar manner. Get one costume and then dress up as if the original costume is the real you, while acting as if the second character is the only costume around. There are a lot of fun things that could be done with that idea.

Kermit the Frog Costumes

Kermit the Frog is such a lovable and terrific character, and you can do almost anything you want with him because of his disposition and persona.

You can have him attended by the ever cooperative Miss Piggy, or you can have him go as a solo act.

And when you look at the Kermit costumes for children and pets, it would be enjoyable to go as a Kermit family, or at least with a bunch of Kermits of different age with Miss Piggy in the mix.

Whatever route you take, Kermit the Frog is a sure costume winner for Halloween parties, or any other event that requires a costume.
