Valentine Crafts for Boys
Valentines for kids -- boy-friendly!
There's no shortage of valentines crafts online, but many are too fluffy and frilly for boys to embrace. Yet class valentines are a tradition -- sometimes a requirement -- for boys as well as girls. Here, some fun homemade valentine card ideas that will appeal to both genders. 'Cause handmade valentines are always the best!
One of my son's classmates made this iPod valentine and used bright red paper instead of the pink pictured here. He used individually wrapped Rolos instead of the mini PB cups recommended, probably due to allergy concerns. This is my favorite of the kids valentine crafts I saw this year.
Rock candy valentine
You can't go wrong with a variation on "You rock" for a boy valentine message. For this handmade valentine, the greeting is attached to a little bag of rock candy. Another fun option would be Pop Rocks -- one of my boys' favorite giveaways -- or some super-cool realistic looking chocolate rocks:
This rocket valentine craft is a blast for boys. Use rolls of Life Savers, Rolos, or Mentos -- plus Hershey's kisses. Yum!
"I Dig You" valentine
Younger boys will love this playful valentine craft featuring a colorful plastic shovel that sends the sweet message I dig you! Pals can save the shovel to use at the playground or sandbox come spring.

Break my heart valentine
I wish I'd seen this in time to suggest this homemade valentine idea to my boys this year, on my search for quick but unique valentines for kids. Too fun! Just fill colorful paper hearts with M&Ms for the perfect non-sappy boy-friendly greeting.
Skip the pink & go bananas with this bright yellow valentine craft, perfect for your little monkey. Use bulk banana candy or -- even quicker -- prewrapped banana-flavored candy such as Laffy Taffy or Now & Later.
From the Zakka Life blog, this is the cutest superhero valentine I've seen. It's a bird, it's a plane, it's Super Lolly!
When her son requested robot valentines, the super-creative mom behind the Seasonal Expressions blog (toddandtagan.blogspot.com) came up with this robot valentine craft. Who knew TicTacs & Starburst could be so cute?
"Plane awesome" is how easy these airplane valentines are, once you've bought the little plastic planes to stick on them. From Char at the Crap I've Made blog.
Also from Char, this toad valentine craft may be even cuter than her planes. My boys used to love those squishy frogs!
