Lighthouse Christmas Ornaments
Ornaments for the Lighthouse Enthusiast
Each year I look forward to putting up our Christmas Tree . I look forward to unpacking the ornaments and reliving the memories that each ornament brings. Some of our ornaments remind me of events in my life and the lives of my children and grandchildren. Other ornaments remind me of favorite places and things that I enjoy!
One of the things that I really enjoy in life is traveling and visiting lighthouses. It is only natural then that having a lighthouse Christmas ornament on my tree would be a fitting reminder of good times. In this lens, I have selected some lighthouse ornaments for you that I think are special. Some of them are lighthouses from places I have traveled and others are just lighthouse that I really like the design. I hope you enjoy the selection and find a special lighthouse ornament for your tree.
Merry Christmas!

Split Rock - Lake Superior Minnesota
The lighthouse pictured above is said to be one of the most photographed lighthouses in the USA. I think it is a very majestic looking lighthouse sitting high on the cliff overlooking Lake Superior. When we visited Minnesota in the fall I was anxious to photograph this lighthouse. I took hundreds of photos looking for just the right setting. This one was shot in a nearby campground. I love the lighthouse scene framed by the fall leaves.
I love decorating with lighthouses and I have a canvass framed print of this photo in my living room. At Christmas time, I love to hang ornaments of lighthouses I have visited on my tree. You will find an ornament of Split Rock lighthouse in the list below.
Places I Have Visited - lighthouse ornaments
In this section I have selected ornaments from lighthouses that I have visited. Some are ones that I have on my tree and others are ones that I have on my wish list.
Big Bay Point - Lake Superior
Big Bay Point is found on Lake Superior at the very top of Michigan's Upper Peninsula. In June of 2013 we had a great adventure when we not only went to visit this lighthouse but were able to stay all night in one of the rooms. The Big Bay Point lighthouse is a working lighthouse that is also run as a bed and breakfast.
I had a wonderful time exploring the lighthouse and grounds and photographing it from every direction. One of the big advantages of staying all night in a lighthouse is being able to climb the tower whenever I wished and going outside to photograph the lighthouse during the early morning and late evening hours. I could then capture the lighthouse under various lighting conditions.
The replica below would be a great reminder of the visit to the lighthouse.
Hilton Head in South Carolina is favorite lighthouse of mine.

Modern Light - icon of city
As lighthouses go, Hilton Head is one of the newer lighthouses in the USA. It was built in the 1960's and has since become the iconic symbol of the island. I was able to visit it on two different visits to the Island. I have taken many photos of the lighthouse from various directions and it has become one of my most sold photographs on CafePress and Zazzle.
This lighthouse is perched on the end of a marina and is open to the public.
Hallmark Series - first in series 2012
In 2012 Hallmark came out with a lighthoues series of ornaments. These ornaments are not of a specific lighthouse, but rather and idyllic artist rendering of a lighthouse. Each year you can look forward to the new ornament for the coming year. They are the perfect gift for that lighthouse enthusiast on your gift list.
It is fun to display reminders of favorite places and things on your tree.
