More Gorgeous Chic And Fun Scarves For Fashionistas

Updated on February 12, 2014

Light and Airy, Ornate and Substantial, Modest and Subdued, or a Flight of Fancy, Scarves Shine!

It's all I can do, when out shopping, to walk past a scarf display. Colors and anticipation of the feel of the fabrics attract me in closer, and once I've touched a scarf I've surely morphed into a Buyer without delay!

Scarf Fanciers appreciate soft, loose woven sheers, and lightweight barely colored sarongs, contrasted with the substantial heft of rayon in subtle or vibrant hues.

It wasn't until I immersed myself into graduate studies in art that I felt comfortable parting with the aesthetics gifted me by my mother and her mother, my teachers and aunties.

Combining a fine green such as the one shown here with a chocolate brown can be as thrilling as biting into the most flavorful Maine lobster. And it's a lot more fun that hauling in those pesky traps!

Have Fun Picking

Long scarves have a charm all their own. The ultra large cotton version can be opened wear like a stole, even over the head, if a Summer night cools off before you are ready to don a jacket.

Neck and Knot Tie

Who would think that the simple tie - wrapping one end over the other and pulling it over and having a tie - is not the ideal way to tie your pashmina to hang gracefully down the front of your outfit. After you view this short video you'll get the hang of it.

I don't wear scarves often because even at 50, I still think of them as 'grown-ups' clothes and feel like an imposter when I wear them - the same with lipstick and pearls. But I have several with gorgeous art deco designs in the same hue/color range and use them as window coverings and couch accessories. I love your lenses. Your creativity definitely shines through them all!

@maddoxmmm: Know just what you mean. I began wearing scarves following my son's TBI 24 years ago, when I felt the need for something that would make me feel more "dressed" than the art-student jeans and turtlenecks I wore in my college program. At first just any scarf made me feel dressed up and too old for my years (43). Now that I've released the artist in me and converted to Islam I rarely leave home without one.

Yes, yes, I am a HUGE scarf fan. Love this lens...all the wonderful scarves and the video demos.I laughed at you comparing the wearing of a scarf with "biting into the most flavorful Maine lobster." Now that's low calorie!
