A Mummy Halloween

Updated on October 31, 2014

Everything a Mummy could want this Halloween!

Make your Mummy proud by being different this Halloween! Have a "Mummy" Theme for your trick-or-treaters. Yes, ignore the temptation to decorate with pumpkins and goblins or witches. Stand out from the crowd! I mean, do you really think that a mummy would scare anyone? Of course it would! Are you nuts or something? You could also make your neighbors green with envy by recycling some old sheets to use for your mummy wrappings.

The inspiration for this mummy themed page came from Avery. That company has a wonderful selection of free templates for Halloween. Mummies, vampires, and jack-o-lantern patterns abound. Don't be frightened to check Avery out.

The image of the mummy cupcakes (click to see how I made them!) is mine, by the way.

On this page you will find ideas for food, costumes and decorations for a Mummy Themed Halloween. Just keep on scrolling down.

Got lots of money to spend on Halloween? Then check out this spooky, scary Mummy lawn decoration:

Mummy Party Food!

Wrap up this meatloaf for Halloween:

I think it is just too cute to be gross!

Meatloaf Ingredients:

(Makes a big meatloaf so you can have leftovers for sandwiches!)

2 lbs. lean ground beef or turkey (you can cut this down)

3/4 c. crushed Wheaties Cereal

1/4 c. ketchup

2 T. Mustard

2 eggs

1 T. grape jelly (weird, but it's awesome, I promise!)

1 C. finely shredded carrots

Garlic salt, to taste

Salt and pepper, to taste

Garnish Ingredients:

6-8 lasagna noodles, cooked

ketchup (optional)

2 slices cheese, any kind

2 green or black olives

Directions:

Since this is not my personal recipe, Please go to Gourmet Mom on-the-go to get the directions. She also has some great pictures of how to turn this meatloaf into a Mummy with the lasagna noodles.

Make Mummy Dogs! - Plus you can buy the cute mummy plate on Amazon!

The plate shown below is just what you need to serve up mummy-licious candies, cookies or cupcakes--OR Mummy Dogs.

Here is a recipe for "Mummy Dogs":

1 can (8 oz) Pillsbury refrigerated crescent dinner rolls or 1 can (8 oz) Pillsbury Crescent Recipe Creations refrigerated seamless dough sheet

2 1/2 slices American cheese, quartered (2.5 oz)

10large hot dogs

Cooking spray

Directions: Heat oven to 375F. 2 If using crescent rolls: Unroll dough; separate at perforations, creating 4 rectangles. Press perforations to seal. If using dough sheet: Unroll dough; cut into 4 rectangles. 3 With knife or kitchen scissors, cut each rectangle lengthwise into 10 pieces, making a total of 40 pieces of dough. Slice cheese slices into quarters (1/2 slice cheese, cut in half). 4 Wrap 4 pieces of dough around each hot dog and 1/4 slice of cheese to look like "bandages," stretching dough slightly to completely cover hot dog. About 1/2 inch from one end of each hot dog, separate "bandages" so hot dog shows through for "face." On ungreased large cookie sheet, place wrapped hot dogs (cheese side down); spray dough lightly with cooking spray. 5 Bake 13 to 17 minutes or until dough is light golden brown and hot dogs are hot. With mustard, draw features on "face."

Recipe can be found at Crescent Mummy Dogs from Pillsbury!

I found another recipe for Mummy Dogs made with refrigerated bread stick dough when browsing the Southern Living Magazine website. Just a slightly different version.

Serve them up on this mummy platter! Too cute!

I never knew there were so many ways to make a "Mummy" decorated cupcake. Check out the sites and recipes I have found. Most use chocolate cake for the cakes, but I think that a spice cake would look more like sand. After all, didn't mummies come from the desert?

I read somewhere that you might need 6 rolls of gauze for an adult costume.

Boris Karloff's transformation into "The Mummy" for the 1932 film began "at 11:00 am, applying cotton, collodion and spirit gum to his face; clay to his hair; and wrapping him in linen bandages treated with acid and burnt in an oven, finishing the job at 7:00 pm. Karloff finished his scenes at 2:00 am, and another two hours were spent removing the make-up. Karloff found the removal of gum from his face painful, and overall found the day "the most trying ordeal I [had] ever endured". (Information from Answers.com)

I definitely think Mummies are fantastic themes for Halloween! Look how gorgeous they are on a Halloween table; whether they're Mummy cupcakes or Mummy-dogs! They're wonderful in a Halloween party where costumed guests dance to the sound of music; have you seen a Mummy dance yet? You prove it, Mickie... there's always a way to wow everyone with a

      Mummy theme.
