An Old Fashion Music Box Under the Christmas Tree 2012 For A Child__Grandma__Family or Valentine

Updated on January 20, 2013

An Old Fashion Music Box

A music box (also musical box) is a 19th century automatic musical instrument that produces sounds by the use of a set of pins placed on a revolving cylinder or disc so as to pluck the tuned teeth of a steel comb.

Today an old fashion music box is a wonderful gift for a child, a family member such as grandma or even for a valentine.

Over a century ago, more people owned music boxes than any other type of automatic musical instrument. The mechanisms were put in jewelry boxes, windup toys, holiday novelties and clocks. Music boxes come in several types. A functional one that combines a box, a wooden box perhaps that allows keeping favorite small items is a good choice. often an alarm clock, or another modern device can be included if important.

Acquire a Music Box

For that Special Somone

A brief interent search for such option is easy to do and easy to find. But in such places like Switzerland, Austria and even in America, specialty companies exist that sells the whole box all made ready to go or components that one can sdopt as he wants if the purchasers have some handyman skills and the desire to do so. An unique music box is a work of art, not just a gift ! So, consider doing a little due diligence as may be appropriate for that special person and special gift of a music box this Christmas 2011 and beyond looking ahead to Valentine's Day 2012 in February.

You may be able to buy a music box from a local merchant or a jewelry store in your hometown or looking at the options via the internet is easy to do also but not as personal of course as a local merchant in your own community. Both options are worthy of consideration for that special music box gift for your loved one this Christmas.

I have always loved music boxes, and had one as a child. My son, and my husband have given me music boxes for gifts. Sometimes I just wind them up, each one, and listen to the lovely tunes. Love the romantic, and vintage ones.

My mom has quite a collection of music boxes. Everyone should have at least one in their home to play a favorite song.

One of my all time favorite gifts is a music box that my husband gave me for our anniversary one year. I also have one that my parents gave me when I was a little girl. Not only are they beautiful, but the songs evoke great memories.

Music boxes will make great gifts for Christmas or any other time for that matter.

My mom used to have several vintage music boxes that were jewelry boxes, when I was small I would sit and wind them all up and let them all play together

      Great lens, thanks for sharing.

I still have a music box that was given to me as a child, it was very important to me then as it is to me now, so it is a great gift that a child will keep forever
