Decorations That Speak "It's Christmas Time Again"

Updated on February 6, 2015

Christmas Memories Sparked by Familiar Decorations

What says, "It's Christmas!" to you? Is it a favorite ornament on the Christmas tree, thousands of twinkling lights, the Snowman who has become part of the family, or the all important Nativity scene? Could you add other unique family treasures to the list?

The beautiful display of familiar things together at year-end could mean just one thing. Christmas is here again!

See if some of my favorites are yours too.

Finding an American Traditional Christmas Decorating Treasure

The feelings and emotions associated with Christmas are wrapped up in the smells and visions of family tradition—these memories are also tied to Christmas decorations displayed throughout your home during this special season. Familiar Christmas décor can even date back to childhood, invoking memories of long ago but never forgotten. Grandma decorated her Christmas tree with beautiful Shiny Brite ornaments; and for me, these traditional Christmas ornaments bring back those old feelings of nostalgia. Therefore, I was extremely happy to find a set of Shiny Brite ornaments for my very own at a Christmas store in Fredericksburg, Texas while shopping with a friend.

I knew that manufacturing of these traditional old American Christmas ornaments had been halted decades prior and I figured never to see them again. However, I had discovered a valuable treasure when I found them and learned they were once again being created for all to enjoy once again. So I share with enthusiasm the reintroduction of Shiny Brite Christmas ornaments…along with a few other favorite Christmas decorating traditions found in our home at Christmas time.

Shiny Brite Christmas Tree Ornaments

Shiny Brite Ornaments are Available Again!

Shiny Brite Christmas ornaments "Vintage American 1940's Design" are an American tradition. These beautiful ornaments were common in American homes beginning in the 1940's and were available for decades. Then for a period, these shiny ornaments were not manufactured any longer. But in recent years, they have made a come-back and are available again to make your Christmas tree "Shiny and Brite".

Get your set now and carry on the American tradition dating back to the 1940's.

Decorating for Christmas is One of Those Things That Make a House Feel Like Home

Family Traditions & Feelings Make It All Come Together

Paying attention to detail and making your home glow with the shine and sparkle of Christmas decorating can be a magical experience. Decorating is not just for eye-appeal alone but Christmas also has a smell and sound that stir the senses and become part of the entire feeling of a wonderful uplifting season.

Hearing Christmas bells merrily play as you smell the fragrant pine scent of the Christmas tree add to the Christmas spirit. And speaking of smells, Christmas is filled with mouth-watering smells of many baked goodies or the familiar aroma of turkey roasting in the oven. Maybe it's waking up to the scent of homemade cinnamon rolls drifting in the air or simply an aromatic whiff of coffee brewing.

Or it might just be that a beautiful winter snow is all you need for it to feel like Christmas.

Christmas Lights Add Magic to Decorating - Pretty LED Lights

Abundant Christmas lights add a beautiful, magical touch to decorating when lighting up a home for this special time of year.

Some of my favorites lights are the new LED Christmas lights. They shine brighter and richer; their colors are different than the usual twinkle lights.

I like lots of lights when decorating for Christmas. And here are some that definitely would shine bright for your holiday decorating.

The Nativity Scene is Christmas

Celebrating Christmas is when we honor Christ as the greatest gift ever given. It is a time to pause and remember the gift that God himself gave to us all.

I count it a privilege and an honor to display the Nativity Scene as the center of all Christmas decorating.

My husband's maternal grandparents gave us a nativity scene for our first married Christmas together, over 34 years ago. Our nativity scene is much like this one pictured here and is carved from olive wood and was made in Bethlehem.

This is one of the most treasured gifts we have ever gotten.

Favorite Christmas Music

This CD is my favorite for Christmas music. It sounds beautiful. And since it is an instrumental, that makes it great for providing an inviting background ambiance.

It is so enjoyable to listen to that I play it throughout the year--not just for Christmas.

Favorite Christmas Movie - It's A Wonderful Life

This is my favorite Christmas movie ever. It shows how important life is. And when we feel like our life doesn't matter, that is probably when we are making the biggest impact. Life and relationships are what need to be treasured most of all.

Watching "It's A Wonderful Life" is a good tradition to follow.

Christmas baking brings out the Christmas spirit for me. One year, when money was tight, we asked the kids if they wanted us to spend our Christmas money on gifts or food. They chose food. It just wouldn't be Christmas without our holiday favorites!

I shop for Christmas presents all year long. Makes it a lot easier when the season comes. Nicely done lens with that personal touch of your own Christmas decoration photos.
