Activity and Game Ideas
Stock Car Pinata: What's a party without a pinata? Add candy and small toys, provide a blindfold and bat, and you're ready for some fun!
Movie Time: Watch a movie(s) about NASCAR at your party, or a race that's on TV. If you're having a sleepover, have a movie marathon!
HOT Car! Play the NASCAR theme song or CARS song. Have players sit in a circle and pass a toy car until the music stops. The player left holding the car when the music stops is out. Keep passing until only one player is left. He is the Race Winner!

The Birthday Cake
Make Your Own Birthday Cake
I've made many race car cakes by simply making a round track on the cake with black or chocolate icing, surrounded by a field (green icing) and adding those little Matchbox or Hot Wheels cars you can buy almost everywhere. You can usually even find a car from your favorite race team. I've also made them using cake topper kits, edible images, and shaped baking pans. Or, you can order a theme cake from your local bakery or grocery store. Be sure to order early!
Race Car Cake Idea #1
Decorate the top of your own cake with a race track and green grass. You can add trees or a pond if you like. This is easy to do for even a rookie cake decorator!
You can get an idea in the video below. I love the way she has made the race track into the shape of the child's age. But, you can just go with a round or oval track if you prefer, using a round layer cake or sheet cake.
Race Car Cake Idea #2
The race track cake in the video below is made using a round layer cake. The sides are decorated with black and white checks and the top has a round race track made with black icing with the sides and middle filled in with green grass (icing). You can top it with your choice of race cars or motorcycles. You could also add flags or other embellishments. You do not need to be a pro to make this cake.
Race Car Cake Idea #3
In the video below, the cake is a sheet cake with green icing for the grass and it looks like cookie crumbs for the race track. (I would recommend using black or chocolate icing.) This cake is decorated with several of the NASCAR collectible cars. (Of course, their favorite team's car is winning!) There are even cars piled up in a wreck on the back side (you can see this in video). This is such a unique idea, I had to include it.
This cake would be perfect for any age NASCAR fan.
Race Car Cake Idea #4
The video below shows how to make a race car shaped birthday cake by cutting out cake layers and used fondant icing to decorate. This one is for a more advanced cake decorator, but it gives step-by-step directions if you want to give it a try. It looks awesome!
Making this cake would be much easier by using a race car shaped cake pan, rather than cutting cake layers. I'm not talented in carving a cake, so I always use shaped pans. You can then decorate it by starring in with buttercream icing or using the rolled out fondant, like the video shows. The fondant makes a smooth finish that you can even add decals to.
