One recipe and 3 Christmas cookies : Cool, Funny, Cute

Updated on November 20, 2012

I really love this idea. When I see the stores getting ready with their gorgeous Christmas trees, window decorations and special offers, I know Christmas is coming to town. Besides decorating the Christmas tree which was always one of my favorites things to do on Christmas, I pretty much enjoy baking and cooking, and cooking and baking. And, of course, decorating the Christmas cookies. And what gives me more joy than knowing I will be able to be versatile in my baking, when it comes to cookies, besides eating them, is knowing a little trick that will definitely save me so much time in enjoying that hot chocolate in front of the fireplace. And why I shouldn't take one recipe for a type of cookie and produce some more types of cookies?

Ingredients

  • 125 g butter
  • 100 g powdered sugar ( or icing sugar)
  • 2 egg yolks
  • 1 teaspoon grated ginger
  • vanilla essence
  • 2 tablespoons of milk
  • 250 g flour
  • For the glazing:
  • 100 g butter
  • 4 tablespoons milk
  • vanilla essence
  • 2 -3 cups powdered sugar ( icing sugar)
  • food coloring of your choice

Instructions

  1. Mix the butter with the sugar and egg yolks until you get a creamy paste. Add the flour, ginger, and essence and milk. Put the dough in a food wrap and let to cool 2 hours. Then stretch a thin sheet and cut out cookies and bake 15-20 minutes in a pre-heated oven.
  2. GLAZING:
  3. Mix the butter with a cup of powdered sugar ( icing sugar) , add milk, your favorite food coloring, essence and then the rest of the sugar, little by little, until you get a creamy and consistent composition. Cool the cookies, decorate with icing, do as your imagination desires and taste.
